Imphal, 17 June 2016 ( Evening News) : People continued counter blockade against the economic blockade called by JAC Against the Anti Tribal Bills, Churachandpur and other organisations on the national highways. Protestors today prevented transporters from taking food and other essential items from Imphal to hill districts on National Highway 2, Imphal-Dimapur road Khonghampat Awang Leikai and Pheidinga Bazar. They stopped and checked all the private and passenger vehicles coming from Imphal towards Sekmai and Senapati district. The volunteers of counter blockade  pulled down food items and other essential items from the vehicles and kept them at the office of the clubs in the area. At Pheidinga the protestors seized bottles of liquor. The people emptied the bottles on roadside. Protestors said they would return the seized items to the owners after the economic blockade. However there was no report of untoward incidents.

Imphal, 15 June 2016 ( Evening News) : People held widespread protests from Nagamapal to Chingmeirong near the state Assembly in support of JCILPS demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur. The protestors staged sit-in in different localities along the road. Residents of the area including students took part in the protests organised by Thangmeiband United Club from Khoyathong till Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani karak. Chungkham Leirak Children Welfare Association organised the demonstration in various places in Nagamapal. People joined the protests at Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai, Nagamapal Phougeisangbam Leikai and other localities. The protestors displayed placards demanding inner Line Permit System and decrying the wanted tag on Khomdram Ratan. All shops along the road downed shutters during the protests.

Imphal, 14 Hune 2016 : BJP Manipur Pradesh has expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s decision to elect the Mayor of Imphal city in a period of two days. Speaking to media persons at its office BJP MLA Th. Biswajit said a congress candidate will become mayor as the party is in majority. He said it takes about 21 days to appoint the councillors and then to elect the mayor. But the government is planning to finish the process in only 2 days. He warned that it will do no good to elect the mayor in hurry.

Imphal, 13 June 2016 : Counter blockade began today at Imphal-Ukhrul Road and Yairipok Bazar today after the JAC Against the Anti-Tribal Bills, Churachandpur failed to accept the appeal of valley organisations to call off the 10-day economic blockade imposed at the Hill areas. As part of the counter blockade locals of Sawombung and Chingarel on Imphal-Ukhrul Road in Imphal East pulled down food items from Ukhrul bound transport vehicles at around 1.30 this afternoon. No passengers were harmed or interrupted while plying on the Imphal-Ukhrul Road. One of the counter blockade supporter Telheiba Nongthombam told Impact News that valley people are facing lot of problems as essential items are not reaching Imphal due to the economic blockade. He said they locals imposed the counter blockade as JAC Against the Anti-Tribal Bills, Churachandpur failed to listen to the appeal of valley based organisations to call off the economic blockade. Similar counter blockade was imposed at Yairipok Bazar under Thoubal district. Locals pulled down goods and other items from vehicles which were supposed to deliver the items to residents of Kasom Khullen and Phungyar area in Ukhrul district. It may be recalled that JAC Against the Anti-Tribal Bills, Churachandpur imposed the blockade in protest against the 3 bills passed by the state assembly. The blockade was imposed from midnight of June 9 and will continue till the midnight of June 19.

Imphal, 12 June 2016 ( Evening News) : A highly decomposed body of a man was found near Korengei BSF camp under Sekmai Police Station. The body was found near the Gate No. 1 of the BSF camp opposite the Koirengei Water Supply. Personnel of Sekami Police Station and Heingang Police Station rushed to the spot. Later a team of forensic experts also arrived at the spot to investigate the matter. A red shirt suspected to be of the person was found few metres away from the body. The forensic team informed the police that the person might have died about 20 days ago. The body was discovered yesterday at 4 pm by locals while cleaning the area in connection with Khuman Pokpa Lai Haraoba. The body has been deposited at RIMS morgue and is yet to be identified.
