Imphal, 06 June 2016 (Evening News) : Kangleipak Students Association, KSA volunteers forcibly closed the shops run by non-locals along the Paona road and Masjid road today. The KSA volunteers were protesting the arrest of 5 KSA volunteers including the general secretary. They were arrested by police for interrogating 2 non-locals who allegedly adulterated salt packets of two different companies. KSA volunteers also ransack food products on the road for which police arrested a volunteer of KSA.

Normal life hit by bandh

Imphal, 06 June 2016 : Normal life hit by bandh called along the Singjamei-Kongba Road. The bandh has been called to protest the allegations levelled aganist JCILPS convener Khomdram Ratan with the aim to derail the ongoing pro-ILPS movement. The indefinite bandh was jointly called by people of Bheigyabhati Leikai, Khongman Mangjil, Kshetri Leikai, Mongkhang Lambi, Pebiya Pandit Leikai, Ningomthong and vendors of Singjamei bazar. Protesters blocked the road in the area by placing wood logs, electric poles, stones and stopped all vehicular movement along the Singjamei-Kongba Road. All kinds of vehicles remained off the road due to the bandh. However it did not disturb patients and people going for religious functions.

Imphal, 04 June 2016 ( Evening News) : Student volunteers of ILP Movement disrupted the Semester Examination of Bachelor Degree at DM College of Arts Centre against the non-release of arrested students Pebam Brush and Bidyalaxmi Loitongbam. Police arrested the two school students during ILP stir last month. Students’ Union of the College halted all the preparation of the examination around 9 in the morning whereas tribal students stood firm on taking the semester examination. The agitating students tore the answer sheets and threw them out of the examination rooms. Police quickly rushed to the spot and put the situation under control. However, the examination was cancelled at DM College of Arts and DM College of Commerce centres while the examination continued peacefully at DM College of Science Centre. Students Union of DM College of Arts affirmed that they will continue the boycott of examination until the arrested students are released unconditionally and demanded that Manipur University must reschedule the examinations on a later date. Mention may be made that College Students Council, an amalgamation of 20 colleges boycotted the semester examination starting today.

Imphal, 04 June 2016 ( Evening News) : Re-polling was held at polling station number 14/8 The Welfare Club, Moirangkhom Sougaijam Leirak in Yaiskul assembly constituency for the Imphal Municipal Corporation amid tight security arrangements. The re-polling on June 2 at the 14/8 was nullified after complaints were lodged against proxy voting and the election authority ordered a re-poll at the polling station. The re-poll began at 8 in the morning. Above 50% had been polled within 2 hours and it crossed 68% by noon. 85-90% of 552 voters are expected to cast their votes in the re-poll. No one was allowed within  50 feet radius from the polling booth except voters. The Re-poll was by and large peaceful.

Imphal, 03 June 2016 ( Evening) : Some members of all political party team today left Imphal for New Delhi to meet the central leaders on the 3 bills passed by the state assembly last year. Representatives of CPI(M), LJP, MPP and  BJP Manipur Pradesh left by an Indigo flight.The state cabinet decided to send the all party to team to Delhi to urge the president to give his assent to the 3 bills. Before leaving for new Delhi the representatives of different political parties told media that they will meet the central leaders including the Prime minister and Union Home minister to urge them to convert the 3 bills into an act. Reacting to the announcement of Rs 5 lakh reward by the state govt on JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan based on a photo uploaded on social media facebook, MPP President N. Sovakiran it is like an unstable mind running the government.
