Gaikhangam says legal and constitutional experts will be entrusted with the preparation of the new bill
Imphal, 28 June 2016 ( Evening News) : Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam stated that the Government and All Political Party have decided that Legal and Constitutional Experts will be entrusted with the preparation of the new bill. He said the new bill will be prepared after discussion with stakeholders of both the hills and valley including the Hill Areas Committee to avoid blunder. The minister maintained that the bill will not be against any community living in the state. Gaikhangam said it is confusing that the people who are not concerned with the bill are expressing their anger over the withholding of the bill by the President of India. Regarding the viva voce of the candidates of the 2013 Batch Manipur Police Constable, the minister said it will be held soon.
Co-founder of NSCN-IM, Isak Chisi Swu dies in Fortis hospital in Delhi this afternoon, he was 87
Imphal, 28 June 2016 ( Evening News) : Isak Chisi Swu, co-founder of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM), died today at Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. He was 87. Isak was admitted to the Fortis Hospital in south Delhi on July 5 last year following "severe kidney ailments and urinary tract infection". He died at the Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj this afternoon at 12.40. He joined the underground movement in the late 1950’s and served as foreign secretary of Naga National Council which was the political organisation of the Naga people. Under the leadership of Angami Zapu Phizo in 1940s, he unsuccessfully campaigned for secession of the Naga territory from India and creation of a Sovereign Naga State. Isak Chisi Swu, Thuingaleng Muivah and SS Khaplang formed the National Socialist Council Of Nagaland on January 31, 1980. NSCN was formed opposing the Shillong Accord signed by then Naga National Council and the Government of India. Following the disagreement the group split into two factions, NSCN-K led by SS Khaplang and NSCN-IM led by Isak Chisi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah.
Educational Felicitation
Imphal, 27 June 2016 : Educational Felicitation Committee and Pheiding-ga Development Committee today felicitated meritorious students of Potsangbam Zilla Parishad who have performed well in class 10 and 12 examinations. Editor in chief of Impact news Yumnam Rupachandra spoke on the role of media to promote education in the society at the event. Lamshang MLA W. Brajabidhu was the chief guest of the function held at Pheiding-ga Lairembi Mandap.
Meritorious students who secured 1st division in the Class 10 and 12 exam conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM and CBSE were felicitated at Sagolband Nepra Menjor Mamang Leikai. Felicitation was also held for successful candidates of the MPSC and MBBS of the area. Sanakhotnaba Amasung Chaokhat Khongthang Lup, SACKL organised the event. Altogether 14 students were with presented gifts.
Meritorious students of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC who performed well in Class 10 and 12 Examinations this year were felicitated at a function today. The event was organised by Clubs and YUMBI at Hiyangthang maning lampak Community Hall.
135 students of Sagolband Constituency who excelled at the class X and XII examinations were felicitated at a function held at Sagolband Thingom Leikai Community Hall. The felicitation was held by Sagolband Kendra Development Cum Beneficiary Committee.
Dr M Nara has accused the state govt of bungling the multi crore National Food Security Act
Imphal, 27 June 2016 : General Secretary of Communist Party Of India, Manipur State Council, Dr M Nara has accused the state govt of bungling the multi crore National Food Security Act. The former minister said the CPI will hold public meetings from July 7 onwards to discuss the non issue of ration cards and food grains to the genuine beneficiaries under the act in Manipur. Speaking to media persons at the CPI office, Dr Nara mainatained that the state govt. has made a joke out of the multi crore project. He said Ministers, MLAs and the agents are exploiting the people by not providing the food grains entitled to them under the act. He said the CPI will launch campaigns to resolve this issue. Dr Nara further stated that the Congress and BJP should stop blaming each other over the Sports University and should not politicise the issue. He urged them to start the construction of the university sooner as directed by the Sports Ministry. He further added that if the situation of our state remains the same then there’s very less scope of our future. He also appealed to the people to bring in a new Party in power besides BJP and Congress for a Corruption free, peaceful and prosperous Manipur.
Protestors continued sit-in demanding introduction of a new bill to implement ILPS
Imphal, 25 June 2016 ( Evening News): Protestors continued sit-in demanding introduction of a new bill to implement ILPS and withdrawal of wanted tag on former convener of JCILPS Khomdram Ratan. People today demonstrated at various places from DC office Porompat to Top Khongnang-makhong by blocking the roads. Many women took part in the protest organised by Meira Paibi of Kongpal Iramphak Thongkhong by blocking the bridge. Members of meira paibi blocked the road and held protest at Kongpal Top Khongnang-makhong Maning Leikai. The protest was organised by Kongpal Top Khongnang-makhong Maning Leikai Nupi Singi Lamjing Lup and Eastern Youth Development Association. Similar protest was also seen at Top Khongnang-makhong Mamang Leikai. The protestors formed human chains and chanted slogans demanding ILP and introduction of a new bill to protect the indigenous people.
