Imphal, 07 July 2016 ( Evening News) : Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA RK Anand has asserted that Manipur merged with India not to remain subservient but to move ahead with the rest of the country. The MLA  insisted that it is the natural law to frame a law to protect ourselves and the Government of India must appreciate such initiative. RK Anand today inspected the construction of roads and drainage in his constituency along with the people. Speaking to media persons RK Anand said it is the responsibility of the govt and the people to press the centre to pass the ILP bill.

Imphal, 07 July 2016 ( Evening News) : Like in the rest of the world, Muslims today celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with religious and traditional fervour and enthusiasm in Muslim inhabited areas of Manipur to mark the end of the holy month Ramzan. Muslims in Moijing, in Thoubal District celebrated the festival with religious gaiety. People gathered in large numbers at  Moijing Idiga ground to offer Namaz in the morning. They also performed Kabar Giyarat, a ritual of offering prayers at the grave of their forefathers as a part of the celebration. Speaking at the occasion Secretary of Eidgah Committee Moijing, Md. Abdul Waris wished for unity and peace among the people.

Md. Abdul Waris also expressed his disappointment over the delay in the completion of the work in  Eidgah at Moijing. He appealed to the chief minister to complete it.

12 Bihar Regiment and ANJUMAN, Lilong  jointly celebrated Eid-ul-Fitre at the office of ANJUMAN, located at Lilong Dam. Personnel of the battalion led by Captain Abhishek Kumar and the members of ANJUMAN prepared food and ate it together. Secretary of ANJUMAN, Habibulah Pushamayum wished the people of Manipur for a prosperous and peaceful future from today. He wished that the mistrust and animosity be washed out with the blessings from Allah.

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the country. The faithfuls attired in their best thronged Eidgahs and mosques to offer Eid prayers. Later they exchanged Eid greetings. In Delhi, main congregations were held at Jama Masjid, Fatehpuri Masjid and Shahi Eidgah. Speaking on the occasion, the Imams, who led the prayers appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony and prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country. In Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir,Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated yesterday.

Imphal, 07 July 2016 ( Evening New) : Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today maintained that ‘preserving the forests is like preserving ourselves’ at the 67th Van Mahotsav. Speaking at the launch of Van Mahotsav at the Trade cum Permanent Exhibition Centre at Lamboi-Khongnangkhong organised by Forest Department, the Chief Minister said cautioned the people to be careful as what they do today will impact the future. He asserted that forests which cover 78% of the total area of Manipur is not just an asset but the life of the people. Ibobi also stated that every one is aware that Imphal will become a SMART CITY. However, it is also equally important to have greenery in the city to call it a smart city. Chief Minister also appealed to all to take equal responsibility in preserving the forests.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said people in the hills must take a greater role in preserving the forest land of the state. He observed that the Customary Laws which prohibit felling of trees in the hills now seem ineffective. The Deputy Chief Minister also expressed his desire to have the department concerned look into the measures taken to preserve Reserved Forests in the state. A book published by State Forest Department was also released on the occasion.

Imphal, 03 July 2016 ( Evening News) : State Alliance for Injecting Drug Use Programme, jointly formed by MACS, Social Welfare Department, TI Partners, DESAM, MSF, AMADA, Dalit Sena and CADA today organised a CLEAN DRIVE campaign with an aim to eradicate drug abuse in the society. The drive was especially carried out at North AOC where drug users were counselled on how to stay away from drugs and alcohol. Volunteers also collected a large amount of used syringes and destroyed them. Convenor of the Alliance Ningthoukhongjam Bobo Meitei appealed to teenagers and the youth to lead a healthy life away from drugs and alcohol. Bobo also said the drive was carried out to raise awareness on the consequences of the drug abuse and to properly destroy the used syringes which may cause harm to the people.

Imphal, 03 July 2016 ( Evening News) : President of United Committee, Manipur, Elangbam Johnson today asserted that the attempt to divide Manipur between NSCN-IM and Kuki rebels is just like living in fool’s paradise. He reiterated the stand of the people of Manipur to face any threat to disintegrate the state. Speaking at the 16th Foundation Day of UCM at the Committee’s Office Complex at Lamphel, Johnson maintained that the death of NSCN-IM Chairman, Isak Chisi Swu has roused a curiosity among the people of Manipur, especially in view of the ongoing Naga Peace Talk at the final stage. He said unfortunately, Govt of India has so far failed to table a white paper on the Framework Agreement. UCM and the people of Manipur can never accept any attempt to disintegrate Manipur and formation of body like PAN Naga as reported in some papers published in Nagaland. Reminding that Naga Peace Talk Interlocutor RN Ravi had already assured that there will be not alteration in the territorial integrity of Manipur. And if the Govt of India acts against the wishes of the people of Manipur, then mass movement larger than June 18 of 2001 may erupt. UCM President Elangbam Johnson also appealed to resolve any misunderstanding among Meitei and Meitei Pangal in Nungei.
