Scuffles broke between the police and students of Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School
Imphal, 19 July 2016 ( Evening News): Scuffles broke between the police and students of Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School at the school gate when the students tried to take out a protest rally demanding implementation of ILPS in the state. The girl students were prevented by women police personnel from taking out the rally. Imphal West SDPO AG Sharma was injured in his temple when students pelted stones during the tussle. Meanwhile students of Johnstone higher secondary school marched towards TG school and police tried to stop them at Nityaipat Chuthek asking them to go back to their schools. In the mean time, students of CC higher secondary school also gathered at Nityaipat Chuthek. Later the students proceeded towards Keishampat Junction and started shouting slogans while a few students of TG school sat on the road and obstructed the traffic at Wahengbam Leikai. Later police came and drove the students away and cleared the traffic. A student was injured in the melee. Police fired tear gas shells and mock bombs near Bhigo hotel to control the mob.
Manipur Fire Service Director, Kh. Chandramani today said the dept. lacks manpower and substations
Imphal, 19 July 2016 : Manipur Fire Service Director, Kh. Chandramani today said the dept. lacks manpower and substations and have been sending proposals for up gradation of the dept. He said the govt has however failed to convert their proposals into actions. Speaking during media interaction program organised by DIPR at its complex, Kh. Chandramani said Imphal Fire Service and 16 Sub-Stations are involved in fighting fire, flood and other natural calamities in the state saving lives and properties. Director of Manipur Fire Service, Kh Chandramani added that the department faces various difficulties and inconvenience in fighting fires in the congested Imphal City and among them lack of water is the major problem.
One day Free Medical Camp was held today at Juvenile Learners’ Club Community Hall
Imphal, 18 July 2016 ( Evening News) : A one day free medical camp was held today at Juvenile Learners’ Club Community Hall, Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai. The camp was organised by Former Vice President of BJP Manipur Pradesh and current State Executive Member H Jayadev Sharma in association with District Health Society, Imphal East. OPDs for Medicine, Eye and Skin were opened and free medicines were also distributed during the health camp. H. Jayadev said the health camp was organised in view of the recent flood in Tokpam Leiaki area to give access to healthcare to the needy people. He also added that such camp will be organised at various places under Yaiskul constituency.
Final hearing on JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan case postponed for second time in High Court
Imphal, 18 July 2016 (Evening News) :The final hearing on former JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan case was postponed for the second time in the High Court of Manipur. The final hearing was postponed due to ill health of Chief Justice Rakesh Ranjan Prasad. Meanwhile the JAC formed against Wanted tag on Khomdram Ratan condemned the postponement of the final hearing for the second time. Speaking to Impact News at court complex, former JCILPS Women Wing Convenor, Lourembam Nganbi Leima said the postponement of the case citing ill health of Chief Justice is 'unreasonable'. She said the wanted tag against Khomdram Ratan is 'un-constitutional'. Nganbi Leima warned of intense agitation in case the final hearing is postponed again. Meanwhile, hunger strike continued at Singjamei Thongkhong demanding revocation of wanted tag on Khomdram Ratan. It is worth mentioning here that the hunger strike began yesterday.
An earthquake measuring 3.2 magnitude on Richter scale hit Chandel
Imphal, 17 July 2016 ( Evening News) : An earthquake measuring 3.2 magnitude on Richter scale hit Chandel this morning at 8. Another medium intensity earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter Scale hit Gujarat. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the quake occurred at 9:25 am at a depth of 10 kms. There were no immediate reports of loss of life or property in both incidents.
