First Annual function of COHSEM held 24 years after it was formed; Minister Ratankumar emphasises on character building of students
Imphal, 25 July 2016 (Evening News) : Annual function of Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur was held today, 24 years after the council was formed. Education Minister. Dr. Kh. Ratankumar emphasised on introduction of new techniques in the teaching and learning process in the eduction system and character building of students. Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur organised the First Annual function of the Council at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong. Addressing at the function, Education Minister Dr. Kh. Ratankumar appreciated the efforts taken up by Council to stop unfair means during examination. Minister Ratankumar said it is time that we bring new techniques to drew the attention of the students so that they learn their lessons well and there is no room left for unfair means. He said at present there is a global trend focusing on character building of the students. As part of the function Annual Report of COHSEM was released and gifts were distributed to DC, SP and flying squad who took a major role in the recently held examination conducted by the Council.
Normal life was partially hit by the 24 hour bandh
Imphal, 24 July 2016 ( Evening News) : Normal life was partially hit by the 24 hour bandh called by All Manipur Written Test successful candidate 2013 Batch Police Constable. In some places bandh supporters blocked roads by placing bamboos and logs. Khurai and Kakwa in Imphal were affected by the bandh while Moijing in Thoubal district, and some areas in Chandel and Senapati district were also hit by the bandh. Police arrested 10 volunteers of the group from Lilong. Joint secretary of the association Nameirakpam Suraj demanded unconditional release of the arrested persons.
Works at RIMS OPDs will be resumed from Monday
Imphal, 24 July 2016 : Works at RIMS OPDs will be resumed from Monday. International Peace and Social Upliftment (IPSA) President, Chingkhei Luwang announced it a press meet held at its office at Keishampat. Chingkhei said representatives of IPSA met the RIMS authority regarding closure of OPDs. He said they urged the RIMS authority not to close down the OPDs in connection with the suspension of a doctor.
BJP Manipur Pradesh today demanded the Teachers’ and Medical Officers’ Association, RIMS to call off their cease work
Imphal, 24 July 2016 : BJP Manipur Pradesh today demanded the Teachers’ and Medical Officers’ Association, RIMS to call off their cease work at Out Patients Department of the premier hospital or else a written complaint will be sent to the Prime Minister and Union Health Minister. TAMOA, RIMS called for 3 day cease work at OPD from July 21 to 23 demanding revocation of suspension of Dr L Trinity in Th Kheroda death case. Speaking to media during a road repairing at Top Khong-nangkhong Leishangthem Leirak, Secretary, BJP Manipur Pradesh, L Sushindro said halting the normal work at a hospital is unreasonable as it gives immense inconveniences to the people especially from far flung areas. He maintained that it is most unfortunate to cease all the works at OPD for 3 days and appealed to the association to call off the cease work immediately.
Meanwhile, residents expressed gratitude to L Sushindro for repairing Top Khong-nangkhong Leishangthem Leirak, neglected by the authority for the last 9 years.
1712 inter state migrant workers with license are employed in Manipur, labour dept issued license from 2014
Imphal, 23 July 2016 ( Evening News) : State Labour Department began issuing license to inter state migrant workers employed by Companies or contractors in the state from 2014. Speaking to media at the press conference organised by DIPR at Moirangkhom, Labour Commissioner E Tomba said 1712 migrants workers were given license under the Regulation of Employment and conditions of service Act 1979. He also said the department will take stern action against child labour and appealed to people to inform the department if any child below 14 years is found employed in any building or construction work labourer.
E. Tomba also maintained that even though the Supreme Court has ordered implementation of the recommendations of Majithia Wage Board for working journalists and Newspaper employees, it is not yet implemented in Manipur. As per the instruction of the Supreme Court, 3 inspectors of the department monitored the media houses of the state and found that none of the media houses implemented the order. He also stated that the Labour Department issues an identity card to those who have worked for more than 10 years in media houses, however, there is no welfare scheme provided to the media fraternity.
