Imphal, 01 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : Top officials of Social Welfare Department today failed to give an appropriate answer when they were questioned regarding one of the mismanagement of the department at a press meet at the DIPR complex. Media persons questioned the dept officials how approval was given to non-existent children home at Luwangsangbam which was declared unfit by Child Welfare Committee. The department’s Principal Secretary K. Moses Chalai and Director L. Nabakishwar Singh failed to give satisfactory answer. They however assured that they have taken note of the issue and will look into the matter. Nabakishwar further added that befits of other schemes like old age pension, schemes for persons with disabilities, Integrated Child Protection Scheme, schemes for underprivileged women by the state and central govt are reaching the people.

Imphal, 01 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : Indigenous People’s Association of Kangleipak, IPAK Secretary General Premkumar Pebam said former JNIMS Director Prof. M. Shyamo has made the institute a corrupt place. Addressingto the media persons at IPAK office in Keishampat, Premkumar Pebam said they found that Prof M. Shyamo sanctioned order for 40 bed side monitors to M/S Manipur Medical Equipment Traders. The monitor which cost Rs 39,000 each was shown as Rs 249500 each as expenditure. IPAK Secy Gen accused Prof Shyamo of trying to waste poor people’s money. Premkumar said in case JNIMS has approved the order than agitation will be taken out against the institute. On the other hand, IPAK volunteers also found out that HPLC-Chromatography machine of Forensic Medicine Department was sanctioned by Prof M. Shyamo at the cost of Rs 7287787 which actually cost Rs 2253563.

Imphal, 01 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : Social Welfare and Co operation Minister AK Mirabai has appealed to all expectant and nursing mothers to continue the traditional habit of breastfeeding as it makes baby healthy and at the same time breastfeeding saves money and time. Minister AK Mirabai was speaking at the inaugural session of the 'World Breastfeeding Week 2016' which was held on the theme “Breastfeeding: A Key to Sustainable Development” at GM Hall. The function was organised by Social Welfare Department. Minister AK Mirabai further stated that the breast-milk is nutritious and it helps in the development of the child’s brain. The inaugural session was attended by officials of Social Welfare Department, Anganwadi workers and helpers.

Imphal, 31 July 2016 ( Evening News ) : BJP national general secretary and coordinator of north east states, Ram Madhav today asserted that the BJP will expose the misdeeds of the Ibobi govt and prepare the BJP as a viable party before the people of Manipur by the time the elections are announced. The BJP leader said the people who believe in Narendra Modi's leadership and want to see a change in the state are welcome to the party. Speaking to media persons at Hotel Imphal after the State Executive meeting of the party, the BJP leader maintained that the BJP has been drawing the attention of other Political Parties. He said the party welcomes the people who want to see an alternative to the congress govt. Ram Madhav said the party is preparing to announce the Chief Ministerial Candidate of the party in the upcoming assembly elections. He also said the candidates of the party will be announced in the next few months. The State Executive meeting  held for the first time after the appointment of the new president took resolutions on the misappropriation of central funds, protection of indigenous people, eradication of corruption.

A meeting of BJP Manipur Pradesh Core Committee will be held on August 2 in New Delhi. The State Core Committee will leave Imphal for New Delhi tomorrow. The meeting to be chaired by BJP National President Amit Saha will discuss party’s plan for the state general election to be held in 2017. The meeting will also be attended by BJP national leaders like Ram Madhav, Prahlad Singh Patel and Ajay Jamwal.

Imphal, 31 July 2016 ( Evening News ) : People from various walks of life today took part in the World Hepatitis Day rally held in Imphal. Health Minister D. Kourungthang flagged off the rally organised by Shija Hospitals and Research Institute at the western gate of Kangla. Representatives  of Apunba Fitness Centre, Manipur Shumang Leela Council, Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Assn, Film Forum Manipur, Thangmeiband athletic Union, staff of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute participated in the rally which concluded at THAU ground. Residential Medical Officer of Shija hospitals Dr. Kh. Chetan emphasised the need for awareness and timely screening to prevent Hepatitis. A free Hepatitis  screening camp was also held at THAU ground.
