Justice N. Kotiswar stresses the need to fully understand the Indian constitution by law students
Imphal, 25 June 2016 ( Evening News) : One day Lecture cum Interaction Programme on ‘Justice is Truth’ was held today at the auditorium of the High Court of Manipur. The programme was organised by Manipur State Legal Services Authority. Judicial officers, public prosecutors, advocates, panel Lawyers, Legal Aid Counsels and law students took part in the the interaction programme. Several resource persons spoke on welfare & children in the Administration of Justice’, ‘ Important Provisions of Cr.P.C’ etc. Speaking on the occasion Justice N. Kotiswar said it is very necessary for the Law students who are new in the field of judiciary need to fully understand the Indian constitution. He also said the preamble is just like the introduction to the laws .
NEDA , A new alliance of non-Congress parties of northeastern will be formally launched in Guwahati on July 13
Imphal , 25 June 2016 ( Evening News) : A new alliance of non-Congress parties of the northeastern region will be formally launched in Guwahati on July 13. This was stated by Mizo National Front (MNF) president Zoramthanga while addressing the party workers in Aizawl yesterday. He said the launch of the alliance called North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) is likely to be participated by BJP president Amit Shah and many Union ministers. Zoramthanga said NEDA would support the NDA government at the Centre. He said at least 10 non-Congress parties met in Guwahati recently to draft the constitution for NEDA, and MNF is its only member from Mizoram.
48-hour general strike called by JAC of Khomdram Ratan continues to hit life in the valley for the second day
Imphal, 24 June 2016 ( Evening News) : The 48-hour general strike called by JAC constituted against the declaration of wanted tag on JCILPS former convenor Khomdram Ratan continues to hit life in the valley districts of the state for the second day today. The general strike came into effect from the midnight of June 22 and will end today midnight. Supporters of the general strike blocked roads in different areas by placing tree trunks, bamboos, electric poles and burning tyres. Markets, business establishments, educational institutions in Imphal and its adjoining areas remained closed. Passenger vehicles remained off the roads.
JCILPS denies link with Mangi who was arrested by police with bomb making materials
Imphal, 24 June 2016( Evening News) : Joint committee on inner line permit system has denied link between the JCILPS and Nameirakpam Mangi, who was arrested by the police yesterday with materials used in bomb making. The police alleged that Mangi was making bombs for the outlawed National revolutionary front, Manipur, NRFM. JCILPS Convenor in charge BK Moirangcha today refuted the claims made by the SP, Imphal west that Mangi is the Publicity-in- charge of JCILPS Sagolband and said there is no Sagolband unit of the JCILPS and they do not know Nameirakpam Mangi who was arrested by the police. He questioned whether the accusation by the SP against the JCILPS is a ploy to suppress the movement of the JCILPS.
BJP, Manipur Pradesh asserted that the proposed establishment of Sports University in Manipur may shift to other place
Imphal, 23 June 2016 : BJP, Manipur Pradesh asserted that the proposed establishment of Sports University in Manipur may shift to other place if the land dispute of Yaithibi Loukon where the University is to be constructed is not resolved by June. Speaking to media at its office at Nityaipat Chuthek, former BJP President Shijagurumayum Shantikumar said Joint Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India, Rajvir Singh has on May 26 intimated the State Chief Secretary regarding the shifting of the location of the University if the land dispute is not resolved within this month. However, the state govt blames the centre for not passing a bill in regards to the University. Shantikumar also questioned what would be the problem if the Sports University is built at Koutruk where residents are ready to give the required area of land. Mention may be made that around 200 land owners of 250 acres are against the construction of the University and owners of another 63 acres of land filed a case challenging the decision of the govt.
