Imphal, 29 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : A bomb exploded at the residence of former Naga People’s Front MLA of Ukrul constituency Samuel Risom located at Dewlahland at around 12 midnight. The hand grenade hurled by the unidentified miscreant exploded inside the gate of former MLA Samuel Risom. There is no report of any casualty but a car parked inside the residence campus was damaged in the explosion.

Imphal, 29 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : BJP Manipur Pradesh termed the cancellation of 2013 Constable Male Civil Recruitment as unethical practice and accused the Congress led govt of trying unrest in the state. BJP threatened to boycott the fresh constable’s recruitment drive which is beginning from tomorrow. Speaking at a press conference at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office at Nityaipat Chuthek, party spokesperson S. Tiken said Home Minister Gaikhangam’s statement that the old recruitment was cancelled due to discrepancy in the recruitment procedure is illogical. S. Tiken said the party workers will boycott and ban the recruitment rally for constables on the spot beginning tomorrow.

Imphal, 29 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha today inspected the Imphal International Airport. Speaking to media persons after landing in Imphal, Minister Jayant Sinha said there is a central plan to expand and improve the airports across the country for providing better domestic and international travel. He said as part of the plan he is inspecting the Imphal International Airport to improve regional connectivity and stated there is a huge scope for development of the Imphal International Airport. The Minister landed at the Imphal International Airport at 11.30 am and inspected the airport. Later in the day, Minister Jayant Sinha will meet Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and discuss over improvement and development of the Imphal International Airport.

Imphal, 28 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : Director of Health Services, Dr. O Ibomcha said the State govt will form a task force to counter the problem of Hepatitis C virus in Manipur. O Ibomcha said this while speaking at one-day training program held on the theme ‘Use of Direct Acting Antivirals for treatment of Hepatitis C’. The training program was organised by Community Network for Empowerment, CoNE in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services and Babina Diagnostics at Babina Diagnostic Centre, Porompat. Dr. Ibomcha said Hepatitis C virus is increasing at an alarming rate in Manipur and it is the right time to control and eradicate it. He also said a task force can be formed but there is a need for political will and administrative support apart from signing MoU with companies concerned. The program was attended by JNIMS, Hepatologist & Gastroenterogist consultant Dr. N. Surajkumar, Babina Diagnostic Centre Chairman Cum Managing Director Dr Th. Dhabali among others.

Imphal, 28 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : A slight intensity earthquake, measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale, hit Tamenglong district last night. Meteorological department said there was no immediate report of any loss of lives or damage to the property. The quake occurred around 8.34 PM. The epicentre of the quake was at the depth of 14 km.
