Imphal, 30 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : India and South Korea today signed a memorandum of understanding to help each other in the development of Bio-Resource technology. The memorandum of understanding was signed today between Director of Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Takyelpat  Professor Dinabandhu Sahoo and President of Nakdonggang National Institute of Biological Resources (NNIBR) South Korea, Dr.Young Hee Ahn at a function held at IBSD, Takyelpat. Dr Dinabandhu Sahoo said the MoU will not only help in the development of Research and technology between India and South Korea but also in the development of Bio resources in Manipur. NNIBR Principal Researcher Dr. Namil Chung told reporters that under the MoU, as a first step NNIBR will organise a symposium on Bio Resources in October in South Korea and the scholars of IBSD have been invited. NNIBR Director Dr. Wook Jae Lee, Senior Researcher Dr. Mi Hwa Lee,  HT Park and IBSD Reseach Scholars and officials of IBSD attended the event.

Imphal, 30 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : All Manipur DPC Completed Police Constable Male 2013 and BJP Manipur Pradesh stormed Manipur Police Training college at Pangei demanding cancellation of the physical test for the candidates of police constable this morning. However the physical test continued amid firing of tear gas shells, sit-ins and various forma of protests at Manipur Police Training college Pangei. Meanwhile the govt has imposed CrPC 144 around the training college. BJP MLAs, Kh. Joykishan and Th. Bisjorjit  who took part in the protest have been detained by the police. Members of All Manipur DPC Completed Police Constable Male 2013 and BJP Manipur Pradesh took out a protest rally this morning around 8:30 and stormed the northern gate of Manipur police Training College chanting slogans against the fresh recruitment. As the scuffles ensued between the protestors and the police personnel at the gate, the police personnel fired tear gas shells to control the mob. MLAs Joykisan and Biswajit enquired who ordered the police personnel to fire tear gas on the protestors. The protestors then stormed the main gate of the training college. Police once again fired tear gas shells tear and mock bombs to control the situation. The protestors then demonstrated in front of the Training college and shouted slogans against the fresh recruitment.  MLAs Joykisan and Biswajit marched towards the Training college to meet the officers concerned. SP Imphal East ordered for their detention. Joykisan and Biswarjit asked the police to arrest them.

Imphal, 29 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : All Manipur DPC completed Candidate of Manipur Police Constable, 2013 has called for 24-hour bandh in Imphal East district from midnight tonight till midnight tomorrow. Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, Spokesperson Md. Zaheer Khan said the bandh has been called to boycott the new recruitment process for constables beginning tomorrow. It is worth mentioning that Physical test will be conducted at Pangei tomorrow. Zaheer said the association condemns the burning down of Senior General Advocate cum Public prosecution High court of Manipur office located at North AOC. He said the JAC has no link with the incident. Zaheer accused govt of pre-planning the whole incident to defame the association. He also said the DPC members should be held responsible if there were any discrepancies were found during the previous physical test. He said as video recordings were done the candidates who indulged in wrong doings should be removed rather than starting the recruitment process afresh.

Imphal, 29 August 2016 ( Evening News ): Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today reiterated that a bill acceptable by both the hills and the valley people will be introduced in the upcoming Monsoon session of Manipur Legislative Assembly. Speaking on the 85th Death Anniversary of freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang at Haipou Jadonang Park at Keishampat, deputy chief minister Gaikhangam said to avoid withholding the bill by President as happened before, a consensus bill is needed to be prepared after thorough discussion. The state govt has the same desire to enact a law to protect the interest of the indigenous people of the state. Terming the non-performance of the last rites of the 9 persons died in the uprising against the 3 bills passed by the assembly in Churachandpur last year as unfortunate, Gaikhangam appealed to extend help in the introduction of a new bill. Maintaining the cancellation of Manipur Police Constable 2013 DPC was due to some discrepancies in the process, Gaikhangam also appealed to all concerned not to call any bandh or blockade and take part in the new recruitment. People paid tribute at the statue of the freedom fighter during the 85th Death Anniversary of Haipou Jadonang organised by Haipou Jadonang Statue & Park Development Committee Manipur.

Imphal, 29 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : A bomb scare created havoc among the people near the Pallel Police Station, under Thoubal District. The incident occurred early this morning around 7 when a bomb like object was found lying suspiciously near the police station. The area was cordoned off and commuters were diverted for over 2 hours. When the Bomb Squad did not arrive at the spot after waiting for almost couple hours a police constable tried to figure out the object with the help of a stick to realise that it was just a dump of left over after performing some religious ritual.
