Imphal, 27 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : Irom Sharmila who has been confined at the Special Ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital for nearly 16 years  today left the hospital. While leaving the hospital the human rights activist said it is about time people realised that they are also responsible for the dirty politics in the state. Addressing media persons she stated that her exit from the hospital is a new step towards her next movement. She also expressed her desire to open a new office so that she could continue her movement against AFSPA 1958, with the people’s support. She will also be attending the Global Youth Peace Festival which is to be held in Chandigarh from September 27 to October 2 following which she will also be endorsing her campaign beyond the state. When asked about her preparations for the upcoming assembly election, she replied that she is all set for the elections. After leaving the hospital she headed to the Kangla to seek blessings. She would spend a few days at the Nature Cure Ashram, located in Langol. She also expressed her desire to visit Ukhrul soon.

Imphal, 27 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : At least 90 per cent of the office of the Public Prosecution cum Government Advocate, High Court of Manipur at North AOC was destroyed in a fire which broke out around 12.30 last midnight.  The 16 rooms of the office which has 54 staff had been destroyed by the fire. 16 computer sets 16, printers and xerox machine and files were destroyed.  The fire brigade did not receive the phone when people tried to inform it about the fire.  Later police personnel posted at Khoyathong informed the fire brigade but files related to  NSA cases and other important documents could not be saved.

Imphal, 27 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : The Cabinet meeting held yesterday at the CM's Secretariat with the Chief Minister O. Ibobi in the chair decided to table The Dhanamanjuri University Bill, 2016 in the assembly during upcoming session to establish a new university by amalgamating some major colleges of the state. Speaking to media, govt spokesperson and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister, Moirangthem Okendro said DM College of Science, DM College of Arts, DM College of Commerce, LMS Law College, G.P. Women’s College will be amalgamated to establish the new university under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, RUSA  for which Rs 55 Crore have been sanctioned for development of infrastructure. Minister Okendro said if RUSA approves the establishment of the new university, the govt will also try to amalgamate Dhanmanjuri College of Teachers Education and Hindi Teachers Training College into the proposed university. The cabinet also agreed to extend Memorandum of Understanding signed with 8 valley based militant groups for one year. Maintaining that the cabinet also approved to table The Manipur State Higher Education Council Bill, 2016 in the upcoming assembly session, Okendro said the cabinet gave its approval to the The Manipur Higher Education Code for Government Colleges, 2016, The Manipur Higher Education Code for Government Aided Colleges, 2016 and The Manipur Higher Education Code for Private Degree Colleges, 2016. The cabinet also agreed to formulate The Manipur Civil Engineering Service (PWD) Rules, 2016 and The Manipur Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Service (PWD) Rules, 2016.

Imphal, 27 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : Thousands of students took part in the 51st Hunger marchers day observed by All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) in commemoration of the people's protest against artificial scarcity of rice on August 27 1965. People paid homage to the 4 hunger marchers who died in the agitation, Nabakumar, Nilamani, Laishram Chaobhal and Pramodini. AMSU President Sanasam Subhachandra hoisted the AMSU flag at Pishum Chinga Students’ Memorial Complex and students offered floral tribute at the memorial of the 4 protestors. Participants then took out a mass rally from Pishum Ching and culminated at DM College Ground. Slogans such as ‘Territorial Boundary of Manipur cannot be Compromised’, ‘Implement Inner Line Permit System in Manipur’, ‘Don’t Politicise the Development of  National Highways’ were chanted by the rallyists. AMSU Secretary General Manjit Sarangthem said Manipur is dependent on others for food even today and therefore AMSU will continue to fight for the rights of the common people. North Easten Students Organisation (NESO) Chairman Samual Zakwa, All Assam Students Union, Chief Advisor Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya also took part in the commemoration of 51st Hunger Marchers’ Day.

Imphal, 26 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : BJP Manipur Pradesh today alleged that the Congress Government is involved in the violation of rules in the recruitment of Manipur Police Constables held in 2013. The government has cancelled the recruitment due to irregularities and ordered fresh recruitment. Speaking to media at the BJP office at Nityaipat Chuthek, BJP State Executive Member and former minister Dr Nimaichand Luwang said the decision to cancel the recruitment is a very cheap tactic of the govt to cover up its wrongdoing and challenged that involvement of Congress Ministers and MLAs in the violation of recruitment process cannot be ruled out. 3 persons filed a case against irregularities in the recruitment and accordingly an inquiry committee headed by Principal Secretary (Home) was constituted. Dr Nimaichand  questioned why the report of the inquiry committee was never made public and did the government consult Chairman and other members of the selection committee before it was cancelled. He also alleged that the 3 persons who filed the case in the court were backed by a cabinet minister and demanded the government to clarify that they are now given jobs in Education Department. Spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh and former minister N. Mangi said the present government must resign on moral ground as the government is not aware of what it is doing. N Mangi also added that the wrong decision of the government may lead many youths to the wrong path.
