Imphal, 04 September 2016 : Chief Secretary Oinam Nabakishore today stated that State Cabinet has approved setting up of separate Information and Technology directorate. Speaking at a press meet held at the Conference Hall of Old Secretariat, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore said necessary processes for the appointment of Director, Additional Director and Deputy Director of the directorate will begin soon. Four Mobile Applications namely Loucha Pathap, GPF Manipur, Computerise Personal Information System and SMS Service downloadable from Android and Apple Application Store are now available to ease the burden of Govt employees and general public. O Nabakishore added that anyone can check under whose name a particular land or plot is registered with the help of Loucha Pathap application. Govt employees and pensioners can now use these mobile application for GPF Account Statement, Employee and Service History and Pension Statement. Chief Secretary appealed to all the pensioners to register their mobile number with the Treasury Department and avail the benefits. O Nabakishore also maintained that people are now taking the advantages of the e-District launched by the Chief Minister. E-Office has also started in some govt departments to decrease the use of paper in the office cut the expenditure. Chief Secretary O Nabakishore further added that the govt is working on producing a new program called E-Cabinet to prepare cabinet memoranda.

Imphal, 03 September 2016 ( Evening News ) : A large number of people thronged to Singjamei Kshetri Leikai to pay homage to Sapam Robinhood who died during the ILPS stir last year to mark his first death anniversary. The event was organised by Lamjing Meira Khudang Inba Lup. Many people paid floral tributes to Robinhood and prayed for his soul to rest in peace and also prayed for JCILPS former convenor Khomdram Ratan who’s continuing his fight for ILPs in the Jail. It may be worth recalling that Sapam Robinhood died on the 8th of July 2015 during an agitation demanding the implementation of ILPS in the state and his last rites was performed on the 3rd of Sept last year, at Awa Ching.

Imphal, 03 September 2016 ( Evening News ) : Information Centre Hill Area, Manipur, ICHAM today demanded that the long pending border issues of Manipur and Myanmar be resolved at the meeting between the officials of Survey General of India and Myanmar delegations to be held at Dehradun from September 5 to 7. Speaking to media at its office at Khurai Lamlong, ICHAM President Nongthongbam Rajendro appealed to send a representative of the state govt in the 2 day meet and produce the report submitted by ICHAM to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and All Political Party leader along with a CD in the meeting. ICHAM has the evidence of Border Pillar Number 78, 81, 82, 84, 5, 6 and 7 being erected 2 to 3 km inside the Manipur territory. Rajendro also appealed to resolve the outstanding controversies along the international border during the meeting.

Imphal, 02 September 2016 ( Evening News ) : BJP Manipur Pradesh party workers attempted to stormed the state Assembly when the Monsoon session was commencing. A large number of BJP workers led by the party President Ksh. Bhavananda took out protest rally towards the Assembly but it was intercepted by state police at Thangmeiband Watham Leirak. Police used tear gas shells and mock bombs to control the crowd in which more than 4 persons were injured including 2 women. BJP workers also tried to took out rally at Khoyathong but it was stopped by large number of police personnel by firing several rounds of tear gas shells. Later BJP workers shouted various slogans at Watham Leirak and Khoyathong. Slogans like ‘Condemn fresh DPC of constables’, ‘Chief Minister and Deputy Chief mInister resign on moral grounds’ among others.

Meanwhile the injured persons have been rushed to RIMS casualty and others at private hospitals. The incident occurred at around 10.40 this morning when the BJP workers attempted to storm the assembly. Strongly condemning the incident BJP sate Vice President Ashinikumar said BJP workers took out the rally in peaceful and democratic manner.

 

Imphal, 02 September 2016 ( Evening News ) : 14th Session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly began today. Day 1 of the Monsoon session concluded amid commotion and unrest in the state. Members of the Legislative Assembly condoled the death of Kishore Thapa who first won from Kangpokpi constituency in 1974 and served as the member of the House for 3 terms and also observed 2 minute silence as mark of respect to the deceased former-member of the house during the sitting which lasted for 31 minutes. Leader of the House, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh stated that Kishore Thapa was a leader who did not believe in differences in religion, caste, creed and culture. Chief Minister termed the demise of Kishore Thapa as a great loss for the state. Later, house unanimously endorsed 3 bills, 'The Manipur Technical University Bill 2016', 'The Dhanamanjuri University Bill 2015' and 'The Manipur State Higher Education Council 2016'. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh tabled the report of Panchayati Raj Institution and Urban Local Bodies, Comptroller and Auditor General and State Vigilance Commission in the house. Chief Minister also tabled the report of 19th Business Advisory Committee and the house unanimously agreed to select 7 members each of Public Accounts, Estimates and Public Undertaking Committee. Tadubi MLA Francis Ngajokpa and Jiribam MLA Thoudam Devendra due to health problems were absent today. While 4 Naga People’s Front MLA who had tendered resignation were also not present during the sitting.
