Students in the valley are continuing agitation demanding Inner Line Permit System
Imphal, 12 September 2016 ( Evening News ) : Students in the valley are continuing agitation demanding Inner Line Permit System in the state. A large number of school students of Canchipur today blocked the Imphal-Moreh Road at around 2 pm demanding ILPS in the state. The students of ‘International School of Resource’, ‘Imphal Public School’, ‘Albert English School’ and ‘Dineshwari Higher Secondary School’ shouting various slogans marched towards Kakwa. They were stopped by large number of police personnel who drove the students to their respective schools. On the other hand, some students blocked vehicular movement near the Manipur University Main Gate. The students fled from the spot after seeing police personnel.
Former minister and Wangkhei MLA Yumkham Erabot resigns from post of MLA to formally join BJP Manipur Pradesh
Imphal, 12 September 2016 ( Evening News ) : Former minster and Wangkhei A/C MLA Yumkham Erabot today resigned from the Congress primary membership and from the post of MLA to formally join the Bharatiya Janata Party. The political heavyweight received warm welcome from the BJP Manipur Pradesh members including its president Ksh. Bhabananda at BJP head office in Neityapat Chuthek. Bhabananda said among the Congress leaders Y. Erabot has the purest heart and is truly a leader of the people. He said a true leader like Y. Erabot left Congress party as he was insulted by the party led by Okram Ibobi Singh and he opposed the wrong doings of the party. If there was no 10th Schedule the Congress Govt would have been broken 10 times. BJP President questioned the Congress party what policy programme it has taken in the past 15 years to generate income.
Soon after joining the BJP Manipur Pradesh, Yumkham Erabot said there are many leaders who will soon join the BJP Manipur Pradesh. Erabot said he left the Congress party as Wangkhei assembly constituency was treated with step-motherly attitude by the govt. He said in the past many years there has been no development in the Wangkhei despite representing the constituency. BJP Manipur Pradesh Election Management Committee Convenor Th. Chaoba said a true leader like Y. Erabot joining the BJP Manipur Pradesh predicts the downfall of the Congress party.
Hunger strike by All Manipur DPC Completed Candidate of Police Constable, Male 2013 enters second day; two more joins the fast
Imphal, 11 September 2016 ( Evening News ) : The fast unto death protest by All Manipur DPC Completed Candidate of Police Constable, Male 2013 has entered the second day today. Five candidates began the fast-unto-death protest yesterday at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai Community Hall. One of the candidates was admitted to hospital after complaining of uneasiness. Two more candidates today joined the fast. They are demanding revocation of cancellation of DPC.
Chief Minister flags off Run Raise Respond North East Half Marathon race
Imphal, 10 September 2016 ( Evening News ): Chief Minister today asserted only govt cannot solve the problem of unemployment and stressed the role of private sector. Speaking at the flagging off of Run Raise Respond North East Half Marathon organised with an aim of encouraging entrepreneurs in the region at Kangla Fort, Chief Minister said although Manipur has huge untapped natural resources, frequent bandhs and blockades hamper the economic growth and overall progress of the state. Okram Ibobi also wished that the half marathon may bring understandings among the people of the state and bring prosperity. The Half Marathon organised by Henly Ventures Private Limited with the support of UK national Nigel Eastwood started from Kangla Fort and culminated at Nambol Sabal Leikai. Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Rajya Sabha MP Mary Kom among others attended the flagging off ceremony. Individual enthusiasts and entrepreneurs from around the state took part in the half marathon race.
Wangkhei MLA Yumkham Irabot announces leaving Indian National Congress
Imphal, 10 September 2016 ( Evening News ) : Wangkhei MLA Yumkham Erabot today announced that he will leave Indian National Congress after people of the constituency urged him to leave Congress. MLA Yumkham Erabot stated that he will also release a book on the by-partisan attitude of the Okram Ibobi led Congress govt towards Wangkhei MLA and the constituency within next 5-10 days. Speaking to media, MLA Yumkham Erabot also added that for the last 15 years, there have been virtually two MLAs in the constituency as any project and program taken up by departments in the constituency needed the consent of Okram Henry, nephew of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi. MLA also maintained that he decided to leave Congress party after thorough consideration with the people of the constituency and will decide which party he will join in a day or two. A large number of people of the constituency gathered at the residence of the MLA located at Khurai Ahongei Leikai and took out a rally of about 200 vehicles around the constituency. A meeting was held at the residence of the MLA and resolved to urged the MLA to leave Congress
