Imphal, 11 October 2016 ( Evening News ) : Residents and shopkeepers along the Governor road blocked the road indefinitely from today.The decision to block the road was resolved as no parking and vehicle were allowed to ply on this road. Residents and shopkeepers holding placards saying 'we want parking lot', 'vehicle should be allowed to enter' and 'don’t snatch our daily bread' were displayed by the protesters. A shopkeeper speaking to Impact News said the decision of the Govt has caused inconveniences to the shopkeepers. The shopkeeper also demanded shifting of governor Bungalow to some other place.
Imphal, 11 October 2016 ( Evening News ) : Schedule Tribe Demand Committee Manipur has warned the Govt that they will stand against Congress in the upcoming general election if the Govt fails to include Meetei/Meeteis in the schedule tribe list within the month of October. Speaking to the media persons in connection with the one day consultation program on the theme- Meetei/ Meeteis for schedule tribe status at Manipur Press Club today, Committee Convenor Mutum Churamani said more than one lakh people participation in the Committee rally on 18th September has clearly demonstrated that Meetei/ Meeteis wanted to be included in the ST list.Now the demand of the committee became the aspiration and voice of the people
Imphal, 11 October 2016 ( Evening News ) : Information Centre for Hills Area Manipur, ICHAM has slammed the indifferent attitude and silence maintained by the state Govt even if BRO has bluffed the people of the state by sending fake report to the Centre. Speaking to the media persons at its office today, ICHAM President, N Rajendro maintained that ICHAM has found Centre has sanctioned Rupees 21 crore and 33 lakh for development of National Highway 37 in 2015 from Makru bridge to Sibi-long. Moreover a sum of rupees 11 crore and 15 lakh has also been sanctioned by the Centre for development of the highway near Awang Khul. He expressed surprise over the Govt preparedness to repair the road even though BRO did not execute any work even after drawing the amount meant for repairing the deplorable section of the highway. Condemning the attention of the state Govt at the last hour he sought the attention of the Govt on long term basis on this highway. He also expressed support to the indefinite bandh along the highway from midnight today by Rongmei Naga youth Organization.
Imphal, 10 October 2016 ( Evening News ) : Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur today announced for an indefinite bandh on Imphal-Jiribam National Highway 37 from midnight of Oct 11. Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, Organisation President Singamlung Dangmei said the National Highway which is one of the lifeline of Manipur is in deplorable condition. He said they requested and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Works Minister on Oct 3 to repair the deplorable 4.5 kms stretch near Makru Bridge within 7 days. As the authorities have failed to give any response that is why they are calling for bandh from tomorrow. Singamlung Dangmei said they will relaxed the bandh when the repairing work is undertaken by the authorities concerned.
Imphal, 09 October 2016 ( Evening News ) : Thousands of devotees from different parts of state thronged the Hiyangthang Lairembi Temple on day of Bor on the second day of Durga Puja Festival. Nupi-palas also performed religious songs at the temple. Volunteers of Red cross society and NCC, Manipur Police, Traffic Control Police and IRB personals kept strict vigil at the temple to avoid unfortunate incidents

Speaking in connection with the inaugural function of 1st state level sub junior swimming competition at Modern College Swimming pool he express his opinion saying he feels sad on Biren quoting the Congress however it will not have any impact to the party. He also maintained that MLA Biren after serving in the party and Govt for a long time do not want to leave the party all of a sudden.As he left the Congress according to his own will he has nothing to say on it.There is no division or dissension within the Congress. All the MLA’s under O Ibobi’s leadership are staying united and there will be no more resignation of MLA from the party and Govt.
Imphal, 07 October 2016 ( Evening News ) : Sit-in was held today protesting the burning down of Manipur University recreation hall and vandalising of two rooms at the university. The sit-in was staged by Manipur University Teachers Association, Manipur University Staff Association and Manipur University Officers Association in front of the main gate of the university. Various placards were displayed at the sit-in like ‘Make Manipur University a Violence Free Zone’, ‘We Condemn Violence’, ‘Honour the Sanctity of University’ among others. Manipur University Teachers Association President Prof. S. Jibon-kumar strongly condemned the incident and termed the arson at the Manipur University as unfortunate. He said it will be better to solve various issues through dialogue rather than using violence.
Imphal, 03 October 2016 ( Evening News ) : 11-day 'Training of Trainers And Facilitators' and 'Training on Leadership & Motivation' for the election officers began today at the Institute of Co-operative Management Conference Hall, Lamphelpat. The training program is held in view of the upcoming 2017 general election. The program is jointly organised by Chief Electoral Officer Manipur and India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management, IIIDEM under the supervision of Election Commission of India. Manipur Chief Electoral Officer, resource persons from IIIDEM and others attended the program. Around 100 trainees participated in the training program. The training will conclude on Oct 14.
