Imphal, 02 March 2017 ( Evening News ) : Polling Station Officers for the first phase of the Assembly election today turned violent and vandalised the office of the DC, Imphal West. The incident occurred after the poll officers were refused Postal Ballot Papers. As per the order issued by DC, Imphal West, Ballot Papers  were distributed  at around 10 am to the Polling Station Officers in this district, today. However, the returning officers suddenly issued an order asking the officers to cast their votes at Linthoingambi Hall. But the officers demanded Postal Ballot Papers objecting the order. They damaged the doors and windows of the office. Timely intervention by Additional S.P, Imphal West, Dr. S. Ibomcha brought the situation under control. A meeting was held between the election polling officers and DC Imphal West. Later ballot papers were  distributed to the poll officials

Imphal, 28 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : A Remote Controllable IED Bomb was found at the house gate of CPWD Sub Contractor Sapam Nandalal, son of Sapam Sanatomba at Bashikhong Torban in Thongju Constituency, today. Nandalal suspects the bomb planted to have some sort of connection with this upcoming election. He said persons identifying themselves as members of RC Group last evening threatened twice over mobile phones of undue consequences if they canvass votes for the Congress party. He also said 2 months back the unlaw outfit PREPAK expressed their desire of holding talks. The bomb was found early this morning by his mother at their house gate. Bomb Disposal Squad of Manipur Police meticulously defused the bomb and kept it away. Police also recovered 100gm of IED Explosives, Remote Control Circuit Board and a Battery from the spot

Imphal, 28 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar asserted Congress party tries to disintegrate Manipur while BJP tries to bring unity and integrate Manipur. Prakash Javadekar made the statement at the public meeting held in connection with the flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate in Keishamthong AC, RK Shivachandra at Nganappi Thong community hall. Union HRD Minister mocked the Congress Government’s claim to provide safe drinking water to the people if it forms the govt again when it could not provide in its 15 years of governance. He continued it is disheartening as an HRD minister to see the students in Govt. schools hardly pass class 10th examination and said it is the fault of the Congress Govt that most people tend to go to private schools. He maintained if BJP forms the new Govt. the inconveniences facing the people to send their children to private school will be done with and students in private schools will be migrated to Govt. schools.

Imphal, 27 February 2017 (Evenng News )  : A team of Narcotic Cell, Imphal East seized 600 strips of Zolpidem Tablets worth around 7 lakh rupees which will worth  more than double the amount in the Black Market, today. The seized tablets were couriered by a person named Shahbazur Rehman from Chand Bagh in Delhi to a person named Julia Anal in Chakpikarong of Churachandpur District. The said tablets were seized on february 16 from a Post Office Speed Post Delivery Van on road near Palhanbi in Chanchipur by Narcotic Cell Team Imphal East led by OC Shabbir Ahamed on its way to Chakpikarong. The seized and sealed tablets when opened today in front of CJM Imphal East, revealed Zolpidem Tablets , a type of sedatives used as sleeping pills

Imphal, 26 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Two including a 7-month old baby were injured and people damaged two police vehicles in a poll related violence in Khundrakpam Awang Leikai in Khundrakpam constituency. A 61-year-old man and his 7-month-old grand-daughter were hurt when police fired several rounds and tear gas shells to control the crowd. The incident occurred this morning when police came to arrest Maibam Khogen, a resident of the locality. According to Maibam Khogen, a team of police came to arrest him last evening on a false charge of firing bullets. He said the people of the locality know whether he fired or not. He suspected that the allegation was made after his son Maibam John set up a BJP camp at his house. Khogen said the congress candidate in the constituency Th. Lokeshwar who was travelling in a vehicle pointed his finger at him last evening. He told the media that this morning a team of Imphal East police led by the officer in charge came to arrest him. There was scuffle between the police and the locals.  Maibam Khogen who is a Sub Inspector of police enquired about the arrest memo which the police team could not produce. As the situation became tense the police allegedly fired several rounds and tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Pukhrambam Nabachandra and his 7-month-old grand daughter  were injured in the incident. A public meeting was held condemning the allegation on Maibam Khogen at Khundrakpam Awang Leikai.

Imphal, 25 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Prime minister Narendra Modi today told the people that what Congress could not do in 15 years, BJP will do in just 15 months. Addressing a mammoth crowd in Hindi at Langjing Achouba ground in Imphal west, Narendra Modi accused the Congress govt of destroying Manipur. He also alleged that the Congress govt has pitted one community against another community. The prime minister told the people that the framework agreement between the govt of India and NSCN-IM will not disturb the territory of Manipur and accused the Manipur govt of being hand in globe with the NSCN-IM. He asserted that the BJP will form the next govt in Manipur. The prime minister spoke about a number of issues igniting thunderous applause from the crowd.

Imphal, 24 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : A number of candidates who are contesting the asembly elections today signed the “Pledge to the People of Manipur” initiated by the United Committee Manipur (UCM) and  The Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) Manipur. The two organisations launched the campaign demanding disclosure of the framework agreement between the govt of India and NSCN-IM ans asked the candidates to give their signature as a pledge to the campaign. The signing on the Pledge to the People of Manipur” was held today at GM Hall. Reports said candidates are still coming at the venue to sign to confirm their commitment to the cause. Candidates who have signed the pledge include Congress party's Dr. Ng. Bijoy, O. Sukhoi, E. Chand. Candidates of BJP and other political parties also signed the pledge. Till the time of this reporting more than 50 candidates have signed the agreement. However NPF candidates were conspicuous by their absence.

Imphal, 21 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : In the first attack on a candidate in the 11th assembly elections, Deputy Chief minister Gaikhangam was ambushed by unidentified gunmen in Thingkhongjang Village in Noney district. The ambushed this morning around 8.30 am in Thingkhongjang village, 6 km of Khoupum. The deputy chief minister was on his way to his residence in Gaidimjang in  Khoupum to hoist the party's flag in connection with the 11th assembly elections. However there was no report of casualty from the site of the incident. Gaikhangam was safely escorted till Gaidimjang in a bullet proof vehicle. We just got the report that one IRB rifleman was injured when unidentified gunmen fired at security personnel who were on duty in Nungkaolong in Khoupum part 3. The incident occurred in the afternoon around 12.30 pm. He is identified as Yumnam Jenish from Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai. He was injured in the right thigh.

Imphal, 20 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Scuffle broke out yesterday again between the supporters of Congress  and NPP  in Wangoi AC. The clash occurred as MLA, O. Lukhoi came in person and blank fired at  Yumnam Huidrom Makha leikai just a few days after the scuffle at Paobitek where MLA reportedly petrified the people there. However a team of wangoi police arrived and controlled the situation and prevented any untoward incidents. Speaking to Impact News, a resident of yumnam Huidrom Makha leikai,Yumnam Ongbi Memthoi said two persons quarrelled over the installation of NPP poster yesterday evening and a small fight occurred thereafter. After the incident has been dealt with , MLA Lukhoi with his escort team came and blank fired. She appealed the concerned authority to take actions against such acts.

In reply ...INC Candiadte and MLA Oinam Lukhoi  in Wangoi AC retaliated that the accusations made on him are baseless. Speaking with the media at Official Quarter at Checkon today, he said upon hearing of scuffles between his party worker and another NPP worker, he went to look into the issue. However, upon reaching the spot, stones were pelted on him and even a gunfired towards them. Lukhoi further said in self-defense a blank fire was shot in the sky. He alleged, interested parties fearing the Congress party of winning this election might have tried to defame him in such manner. He also condemned the accusations made on him that he came for campaigning with loaded guns at Paobitek. He urged people to cooperate each other in electing the desired candidate instead of accusing one another.

Imphal, 19 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday donated Rs 50,000 to Irom Sharmila's party Peoples Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRAJA) and also urged the people to donate generously and support her.

"Please donate generously to Irom Sharmila," Kejriwal tweeted.

"I am donating Rs 50,000 as my small contribution to her (Irom Sharmila) and appeal to everyone to support her," he said in another tweet.
Following his footsteps, AAP Punjab MP Bhagwant Mann also announced he would be donating money to Irom Sharmila’s cause. The comedian-turned-politician on Sunday posted on Twitter that he will be donating a month’s salary to the activist. Mann also said that Sharmila
is fighting against injustice in Manipur. “As a member of parliament I am donating my one month salary to Irom Sharmila who is fighting against corrupt system and injustice in Manipur,” he wrote on Twitter.
Sharmila will be fighting against Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh of Congress for the Thoubal Assembly seat. She recently accused the BJP of offering her crores of rupees to contest on a party ticket.
