Imphal, 22 June 2017 ( Evening News ) : Meirapaibi members of Brahmapur Thanga Mapal Lakpam Leirak staged a sit-in at Brahmapur Hariga-khong  against the arrest of Aribam Rikesh (24) by a team of Imphal West Commando and demanded his release without any condition. A team of Imphal West Commando picked up Rikesh during the mid night of June 20. Wife of  Rikesh, Aribam ongbi Sanaleima said Thoi Luwang (25) who is a relative from Hiyanglam Tera Pishak is a member of an underground outfit. She said Thoi has been living at their house after both his parents passed away. She alleged that police aressted Rikesh who is innocent after they could not find Thoi. She appealed for his immediate release.

Imphal, 19 June 2017 ( Evening News ) : Congress Spokesperson and Thangmeiband MLA, Khumukcham Joykisan has demanded the state Govt to clarify if the ceasefire between NSCN-IM and Indian Govt includes Manipur. He was speaking on the occasion of foundation laying ceremony of Naharol Leishemba Club at Thangmeibang Sinam Leikai. Speaking further, he said NSCN-IM cadres had recently killed two civilians at Ukhrul. The Govt needs to clarify why there are designated camps of the NSCN-IM when ceasefire does not extend to Manipur. Questioning the Govt as to why the monsoon session of Manipur Legislative Assembly has not been called yet, Joykisan demanded the Govt to call the session at the earliest and present the budget for a debate. The foundation laying ceremony was also attended by many people from the locality.

Imphal, 19 June 2017 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren launched the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences-JNIMS today. Patients will be provided free dialysis under this programme. Directorate of Health Services, Manipur and National Health Mission, Manipur jointly organised the event. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Biren said this is part of the 100 day programme of the new BJP led Govt. He appealed the Doctors, Nurses and Hospital staff to maintain a cordial relationship with patients. The chief minister questioned the abilities of RIMS and JNIMS. As Govt hospitals they are not able to treat patients like the private hospitals do. There is lack of hard work and dedication by the Govt doctors. He promised to make updated equipments available at the hospitals. Modern Technology is being used to treat Neuro and Liver related diseases. Equipments have also started arriving. It is a big step of the Govt to make the dialysis that are expensive at private hospitals, available at affordable prices at RIMS and JNIMS. Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren expressed happiness that this programme under Prime Minister Narendra Modi which will ease the pain of the downtrodden. Health and Family Welfare Minister, L Jayentakumar, Parliamentary Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, S. Subhaschandra, RIMS Director, R.K Dinesh, Senior Doctors and staff of JNIMS were among those present on the occasion

Imphal, 17 June 2017 ( Evening News ) : Khundrakpam MLA, Thokchom Lokeshwar today inspected the flood affected areas in his constituency. Yumnam Khunou, Chingkhu, Sambrei, Haraorok and Khundrakpam are the flood hit areas. Overflowing of the Kongba River in Haraorok has inundated these areas. The MLA assured the flood victims of all possible assistance from his side as well as the department concerned. At least 2000 houses and paddy fields have been submerged under flood waters causing grievous inconveniences to the people. Imphal-Pangei road has also been submerged under water in many places affecting people's movement.

Imphal, 16 June 2017 ( Evening News ) : Industry minister Th. Biswajit had discussed trade prospects between Manipur and Baoshan in agriculture, minerals, processed food, hand-loom and handicrafts products agriculture, hand-loom and handicrafts products with Mayor of Baoshan Municipal Authority, Yunan Province, China, Yang Jun. Manipur team led by the minister discussed several issues including upgradation of the economic cooperation especially in the fields of the industry, agriculture and tourism sectors with the mayor. Minister Biswajit is attending the South & South East Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair, 2017 at Dianchi International Convention and International Sistership pavilion at Kunming, Yunan Province. This fair provides a new platform of pragmatic exchanges and cooperation for establishing friendly relations between India and China. Biswajit also highlighted the prospect of popularising king chilly (U-morok) in Baoshan and export of cotton from India via Manipur to China. He also expressed the need to promote cultural exchanges and tourism sector between the two countries. Biswajit invited Mayor of Baoshan and his team to Sangai Festival, 2017. The  team include MLA Dr. S. Ranjan who is also Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism and officials of Commerce and Industries.
