H1N1 virus detected in Manipur, Health minister Jayentakumar says the infected person is admitted at Shija hospitals
Imphal, 15 July 2017 ( Evening News ) : A case of H1N1 virus has been detected in Manipur. Confirming the detection of swine flu virus in the state Health Minister, L. Jayentakumar today told the media at his office chamber at Old Secretariat, that the infected person, who is about 45 years old was admitted at Shija Hospitals and Research institute on 4th of this month. He said as he requires special treatment, he is admitted at the ICU. The minister said Pandemic Influenza was confirmed yesterday after his blood sample was sent to SRL Limited, Mumbai. The minister said there is enough medicine to treat the infection. Jayentakumar also stated that there is an Isolated Ward at RIMS and JNIMS for the treatment of the disease and the State Health Service is prepared to fight the disease.
Local liquor and beer bottles from Moreh market were seized
Imphal, 14 July 2017 ( Evening News ) : A team of Moreh Police seized illicit liquor including local liquor and beer bottles from Moreh market during a drive. The team led by SDPO, Sh. Lawrence and OC, H. Chaoba under the supervision of SP, Tengnoupal Dr. S. Ibomcha conducted the drive at shops and hotels at Moreh market. 9 Rum Bottles,12 half Whisky bottles, 35 litres of country liquor and 56 beer bottles were seized. The seized liquor was later destroyed. Residents of Moreh appreciated the drive which began 10 days ago and hoped that in a few days Moreh will soon be free from drugs and alcohol.
Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren launches free Computer Training Programme
Imphal, 13 July 2017 ( Evening News) : Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren launched a free Computer Training Programme at Liberal College, Luwangsangbam today. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister asserted that a team from the centre will arrive in Imphal to inspect flood affected areas. He also assured of providing remuneration per the current standards to the aided college teachers. The Computer Training programme organised by Information & Cultural Society Manipur, ICSM will provide free computer training to people in Heingang Assembly Constituency for the first time. Chief Minister further said such “Digital literacy programmes” should be extended to other areas including the Hill districts of the State. He asserted that the new Government is working in a fast pace for the welfare of the people and appealed Government officials to work actively. The chief minister warned of change in positions if the officials do not perform their duties as per expectations. Chief Minister said the new government was formed with certain missions to bring inclusive development and is committed to do something good in bringing positive changes in the State. The chief minister also appealed to the people to take benefits of Beneficiary Schemes.
Former chief secretary Oinam Nabakishor denies corruption allegation, says govt has accepted his resignation
Imphal, 09 July 2017 ( Evening News ) : Former chief secretary Oinam Nabakishor has denied corruption allegation against him that he was involved in the Manipur development society, MDS scam. Refuting the allegation made by a local TV channel, the former chief secretary today told the media that his transfer was not in any way related to the handing over of the MDS case to the CBI by the state Govt as claimed by the local TV channel. Nabakishore said the Chief Secretary is an Ex-Officio Chairman of MDS and that the role of the Chief Secretary is to chair the of meetings of the MDS. He claimed that the accounts of MDS were not operated by the Chief Secretary during his time and that it was operated by Project Director / Administrative Officer. He maintained that as a chief secretary he committed no errors. Nabakishore said there were loopholes in MDS before he took over. He added that the vigilance department was requested to look into the matter. After the new Govt took over, the CBI was asked to take over the case from the Vigilance dept in May this year. Nabakishor said the details will be revealed after the CBI enquiry. He said the news would have been complete had the local TV Channel revealed the source of the information. Meanwhile, the Govt has accepted his Voluntary Retirement.
Chief Minister Biren reiterates that govt will build houses for flood victims during his visit to flood hit areas in Khurai
Imphal, 09 July 2017 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren once again reiterated that the govt will build houses for flood victims affected by the present flood in the state. The chief minister this morning visited the flood hit areas in Khurai in Khurai Constituency. He was accompanied by Khurai MLA, L. Sushildro and IFCD officials. The chief minister provided financial assistance to flood victims who are taking shelter at relief camps. Talking to media persons during the visit, Biren assured that houses will be constructed for the flood affected families. He said dredging of rivers across the state will be carried out to prevent flash floods in future. Biren also said measures will be taken to clean the drainages. He appealed to the people to help maintain the drainages as well as govt alone cannot be responsible for developmental works. Biren said the state Govt has urged the centre to provide 12 thousand metric tonne of rice to help the flood victims. Replying to an Impact News query on Tripartite talks, the chief minister said talks will be held soon and that the talks will be a Political Dialogue. He maintained that they will not necessarily focus on agreement or disagreement on a demand.
