Imphal, 25 September 2017 ( Evening News ) : Thangmeiband United Club staged a sit in against the missing of Taorem Bittoo who has been untraceable since his visit in New Delhi for his mother’s treatment today at Khoyathong Point. Taking part in the protest meet, MLA of Thangmeiband Constituency, Kh. Joykisan lambasted the BJP at the Center and Delhi government for their indifference to Manipur and other northeastern states. He termed the inability of the Delhi Government to trace Taorem Bittoo who has been missing since the 13th of this month in Delhi as being indifferent to people coming from the north east. He mocked the Center government saying if a Cow was slaughtered or lost, there would have been massive unrest. He opined that the Center values a Cow more than people from Manipur and other north eastern states. Joykisan asserted the BJP led state government should pressurise Delhi Government to trace missing Bittoo. Many elderly men and women of Thangmeiband took part in the sit- in protest. It may be recalled that Taorem Bittoo went to a hospital at Vasant Kunj, Kishan Ghar in New Delhi for his mother’s treatment on Sep, 13. He has been untraceable after he went out of the hospital to purchase some medicines around 5 in the evening. A missing Complaint has been already registered at Vasant Kunj Police Station, however he still remains untraceable

Imphal, 23 September 2017 ( Evening News ) : Traffic violators were imposed fines during a Mega Traffic Lok Adalat in the capital city today. People have been asked to follow traffic rules to prevent road accidents and save lives. Manipur Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West, Transport Department and Traffic Police in collaboration with Manipur Police held a Mega Traffic Lok Adalat with the objective  to reduce Traffic Volume and prevent road accidents in the city.  The Adalat which was held along Kanglapat stretch of the national highway number 2 imposed heavy fines on those who were caught violating traffic rules like non wearing of helmet and Seat belt, non payment of tax and driving without licence and other related documents. Public Prosecutor of CJM, Imphal West, Ajitkumar Mutum stated that the Lok Adalat was being held to check the increasing traffic volume. He pointed out that violation of traffic rules and rash driving are the main cause of road accidents.

Imphal, 21 September 2017 ( Evening News ) : Coalition for Indigenes Rights Campaign Manipur, CIRCA today observed the National Repentance Day at the palace. The day is observed to commemorate the day on which the merger agreement was signed between the Governor General of India and the Maharajah of Manipur in September 1949. It was on October 15 1949 when Maharaja Bodhachandra Singh conceded “full and exclusive authority, jurisdiction and powers for and in relation to the governance of the State” to Dominion Government of India through the Manipur Merger Agreement, signed on 21st September 1949. Speaking at the event, Co-Convenor of CIRCA, Golmei Poushing said although the people of Manipur are aware that it was a sovereign state once upon a time, they seem to have completely forgotten that it was a forced merger with the state of India. Golmei expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that most people have decided not to  give a serious thought to the story behind the merger. He lamented that the original cultures and traditions became diluted due to external forces. The flag with Pakhngba emblem was flown at half mast at the event and the attendees observed two minute silence. People form different walks of life took part in the observance.

Imphal, 19 September 2017 ( Evening News ) : Several student protestors led by All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) who stormed the MOBC office near DM College demanding release of MOBC scholarships were injured as police baton-charged the protestors today. As part of its ongoing demands for the release of scholarships, AMSU volunteers took out the protest rally from the AMSU office on DM College campus to MOBC office. When the protestors reached the MOBC office, the gates were closed. Agitated students broke open the security check-room and entered the office compound. A team of police arrived at the spot and halted the students in front of the iron shutter of the office. The protestors demanded a dialogue with the director on scholarships. Additional police personnel were called in when the situation became out of control. Later when the students were about to leave after the locking the office, heated words were exchanged between them and the police. Police fired mock bombs to contain the situation. They also resorted to baton charge to disperse the protestors. When students pelted stones at the police personnel, they were chased back inside the DM College campus.

Imphal, 18 September 2017 ( Evening News ) : Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Babul Supriyo has categorically stated that India will not develop without the development of the north east region. He made this statement to media persons at the sidelines of inauguration of Exhibition Cum Seminar held under the theme ‘New India- We resolve to make’ at Manipur State Film Development Society today. The event is held to commemorate the 75 years of Quit India Movement and forthcoming 75 years of Independence in 2022. The Exhibition-cum-Seminar will be organised in association with the Central Public Sector Units (CPSUs) at 39 places across the country on theme 'Naya Bharat – Karke Rahenge' or 'New India – We Resolve to Make'. Focus of the exhibitions will be on India's freedom movement from 1857 to 1947, showing various activities initiated to attain the freedom from the British rule, including the First War of Independence-1857, Champaran Satyagrah, Non-cooperation Movement, Dandi Yatra and the Quit India Movement. The event in Manipur is jointly organised by Directorate of Advertising and Visual publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Government of India and DAVP under the sponsorship of ONGC Ltd. Minister Babul Supriyo told media persons that there are plans not only to provide skills to the youth of the country, but to encourage Private Entrepreneurs to improve the economy. He said it is the aim of prime minister to create a PPP model to bring about a change.
