Imphal, 13 November 2017 ( Evening News ) : Dismayed Parent of President of Manipur Forward Youth Front, MAFYF, Sapamcha Kangleipal and people of his locality requested him to withdraw his stand to sacrifice his life as a move to repeal Arm Forces Special Powers Act, AFSPA. Speaking to media person at Kangleipal’s residence at Nongada under  Lamlai Police Station, Father of Kangleipal, Sapam Shyamsunder stated Kangleipal was arrested on a false charge in 2008 by the then Government using its power. Even though the court gave its verdict that he was innocent and ordered to release him, the Government again imprisoned him. After being in prison for 8 months, Kangleipal escaped by breaking down the wall by the end of December 2008. However, it was said that Kangleipal will lead people’s movement demanding the inner line permit system to protect the indigenous people of the state from November 18 and set himself ablaze in front of Kangla gate on November 25. Father of the fighter expressed deep concern and appealed to withdraw the decision. Mother of Kangleipal Sapam Ibemcha appealed to the State Government to help Kangleipal withdraw from the extreme stand if the Government stands for truth and lead him to a right path.

On the other hand, Members of Nongada Awang Leikai Meira Paibi also staged a sit in demanding withdrawal from the extreme step at Nongada Market. Speaking to media persons, Secretary of the Meira Paibi lup, Khundombi said even though the court gave its verdict that Kangleipal was innocent, the Government rearrested him. She expressed hope that the BJP led Government will find out the truth behind the false allegation on Kangleipal.

Imphal, 12 November 2017 ( Evening News) : Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam appealed to parents and teachers not to put a lot of pressure on students. The minister yesterday visited Senapati Aided Junior High School in Tusii Nganii Khumai Senapati Village. He interacted with the students at the school and inspected the school. Radheshyam assured the students of toilet facility at the co-ed school. The minister attended the 17th Foundation Cum Parent’s Day Celebration of Brook Dale Higher Secondary School, Senapati. Speaking at the celebration Radheshyam said education provides the students the skill, knowledge and better understanding of the issues facing the society. He said teachers and parants should understand the expectations and needs of the students. He appealed to parents and teachers to help them grow and become innovative and creative. Radheshyam also advised the students to respect and obey the elders.

Imphal, 10 November 2017 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren today stressed the need to strengthen India Myanmar relationship in view of the Act East Policy to bring the entire region on the path of progress and prosperity. He was addressing the International conference on - Looking Forward: India Myanmar Relations in Yangon. The chief minister said India Myanmar relations can be traced back as early as Emperor Asoka’s time and greatest bond that binds the two great nations is Buddhism. He said Manipur is truly the gateway of India for South-East Asia. Biren maintained that  the North-Eastern Region is rich in natural resources and these resources need to be suitably harnessed to raise the living standards and the quality of life of the people. The chief minister said the Government of India has taken many initiatives to  strengthen relations between India and South East Asia under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Modi has given a new thrust to these initiatives with his Act East Policy.  He mentioned that Manipur Govt has constituted a state level committee to aid and advise in effective operationalisation of Act East Policy in Manipur. Biren said Manipur govt has identified several potential projects for investment under Power, Tourism, Horticulture; Agro based industries, Food Processing, Handloom and Handicraft sectors.


He also said school curriculum should introduce awareness about ASEAN at appropriate levels and every school and college may be encouraged to have an ASEAN society. The Government of Manipur proposes to construct guest houses for Buddhist pilgrims from Myanmar as well as tourists and patients. Biren said the govt plans to set up a regional language study centre in Manipur for developing foreign languages, especially Myanmar and Thai languages and also for setting up Buddhist religious teaching institution(s) in Manipur in alliance with Nalanda University through the Ministry of Culture. He said the Prime Minister of India has mooted the idea of having Inter Regional Media Interaction between Myanmar and India so as to share common issues. Biren invited the Myanmar media fraternity to Manipur during the Sangai Festival 2017. He also expressed the hope that the two day International Conference on Looking Forward: India-Myanmar Relations will certainly pave the way in further strengthening the relations between the countries.

ITI students turn violent

Imphal, 09 November 2017 ( Evening News ) : Agitating students of Industrial Training Institute, ITI Takyel, today turned violent to press their demands for a principal and a well equipped laboratory. They set fire to  two cars set of the institute. The students of the Industrial Training Institute, have been demanding a full time Principal, a well equipped laboratory and other requirements in the institute. Many students of the institute joined the protest and burnt the two vehicles kept inside the institute around 11, this morning. The students resorted to violent protest as the State Government has failed to meet their demands. They have submitted memorandum highlighting their grievances. As soon as learnt about the incident a force of Imphal West police rushed at the spot to contain the situation. Police called for fire service to douse the flames but the agitating students prevented the fire tender from entering the institute. Later, police managed to pacify the students. Police personnel put off the fire with water from a nearby drainage.
