Imphal, 19 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : The State Cabinet yesterday approved 32 lakh 42 thousand and 300 Rupees compensation for 10 victims of violent incidents in Nungei area on April 11 last year. The Cabinet also discussed the allotment of land for development of Water Body at Lamphelpat for conservation of water to prevent frequent floods in and around Lamphel areas. The State Cabinet decided to complete the process of land allotment of 442.24 acres of land which is currently available for the development of Water Body within a week. It also agreed on creation of two temporary supernumerary post of OSD (Forest and Environment) and four temporary posts of Additional Director General of Police. It also approved completion of the DPC proceedings for Direct Recruitment of 20 vacant posts of Primary Teachers in respect of Meritorious Sportspersons under Department of Education (Schools). The meeting gave consent to the proposal for modification of the present Warrant of Precedence in Manipur.

Imphal, 18 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : Youth Affairs & sports Minister, Letpao Haokip has assured to increase sports budget to avail better incentives to sports persons of the state from next budget session. The Minister made the statement at equipment distribution event to football clubs organised by  Four Corners Unite, Mumbai and Eastern Sporting Union at Eastern Sporting Youth Complex, Palace Compound today. Football training kits and equipments were distributed to 40 football Clubs including clubs from hill districts at the event.The minister expressed that though Manipur is a small state, her contribution in the field of sports to the country is significant . Players from the state have brought various laurels even at the International arena representing India. He also complimented sportspersons of the state for thier immense skills and their quick learning ability.

Imphal, 17 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : The International Fortnight Day Observation for elimination of Crime against women that kicked off on November 25th concluded today at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong. The observance was jointly organised by Women Action For Development, Centre Of Social Development, United Ngos Mission Manipur, New Life Foundation and Youths’ Forum For Protection Of Human Rights. Two Reporters on Crime and Violence against women were also honoured with the Best Reporter Award at the closing event . Art & Culture Minister, L. Jayentakumar presented the award to Reporter of Poknapham daily, Bigyan Sagolsem and Senior Reporter of Huiyen Lanpao, Bijoy Laishram. The award carries a Cash award of 30 thousand and 20 thousand Rupees respectively and a citation each. Speaking on the occasion, Minister, Jayentakumar said discussions and measures to be taken to stop crime against women and children will be unending . However it is required to bring about a solution. He said that there is a big change between the present Manipur and Manipur 20-30 years ago. Treatment meted out to women in present day is petrifying. He said that there is lack of respect and discipline among the youth of the state today. The wayward attitude of the youth have led to various issues in the state. Jayentakumar said we need to collectively fight against crime against women that the State Government is also working the best it can. Minister, L. Jayentakumar also released a book ,“Tales Of Tribulation” on the occasion.

Imphal, 16 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : Vijay Diwas is celebrated all across India to commemorate the military victory of India over Pakistan, liberating Bangladesh in the Indo-Pak War on December 16 , 1971. Government of Manipur also commemorated the day, today. Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren, Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar, Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary, DGP, Advocate General and many top Government officials attended the celebration held at the Banquet Hall of the1st Manipur Rifles Battalion. Addressing the event, Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren appealed to stand united when any issue of the state or the country arises. On the other hand, Biren stated that insincerity in the administration of the Government in the State for a long time is the root cause of all the problems in the State. He maintained that there is not a single district in the state where people get full democratic right. Biren stated that the negligence, time-pass temperament of the Government officials,  lack of love for the motherland caused the demographic imbalance, influx of the foreigner and resulting Inner Line Permit issues. Speaking on the issue of the ongoing students’ issue, Biren said Students in the State have less amount of time for studies and as such advised the students to give importance and concentrate on their studies. He also appealed to the parents to look after their children and refrain them from agitating blindly. Biren asserted that the present BJP led Government is working with commitment towards bringing a visible change in Manipur. He also said that the Government is working to fulfil the desires of the people without delaying.

Taking part at the event, Deputy Chief Minister, Yumnam Joykumar said the Indo-Pak War of 1971 has a historical significance in Indian Republic. India liberated Bangladesh in the Indo-Pak War of 1971. He said there is still threat of War in various states of India including Manipur incited by external forces. Joykumar said it is inevitable to face such issues unitedly.

Imphal, 15 December 2017 (Evening News ) : “Phu Houba” Audition was held today as part of the 2nd Meetei Chanu Contest at Ibudhou Chingngu Marjing Mandap, Heinang. The 2nd beauty contest of the Meitei Community, “Meetei Chanu Contest” will be held on 23rd of this month at Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre organised by Lainingthou Sanamahi Sana Pung (LSSP). The participants contested in the traditional norm of Cooking culinary delights of Manipur, sieving of rice grains etc during the “Phu houba” Audition, the 4th round of the contest today. Mopping of the Courtyard contest as the 5th round of the Contest will be held tomorrow at the Courtyard of the shrine of Ibudhou sanamahi Kollu thugaipham, Wangoi. Speaking at the sidelines of the audition, General Secretary of LSSP, Lonja Alepa said the contest is organised to protect and let the youth know about the culture and tradition of the Meetei which is gradually becoming extinct. 35 contestants are taking part in the contest.
