Imphal, 01 February 2018 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren innaugrated the new building of Manipur Pollution Control Board at Imphal West DC Complex, Lamphelpat today.  Speaking at the inaugural, Chief Minister, Biren stated that it will be decided whether the board can be upgraded to the level of a directorate. He inaugrated the Administrative and Laboratory section at the new building of Manipur Pollution Control Board, today. He maintained that people of the state will be acquainted with common sense and civic sense regarding pollutions. Biren said efforts are on to curb throwing of wastes and garbages in Nambul River running through Khwairamband market. He said order has been already issued and police personnel deployed to catch people throwing garbages at Nambul river. While speaking in connection with traffic rules violators in the state, the Chief Minister said he was shocked to see a viral video of a cat waiting for green signal at a zebra crossing in Japan. Forest and Environment Minister, TH. Shyamkumar, Chairman of MPCB, L. Radhakishore, MLAs, Top Officials of various departments and many people attended the innaugural event. Taking part at the event, Forest and Environment  Minister, TH. Shyamkumar asserted that pollution is on the rise in Manipur. He condemned those who have not availed themselves door to door garbage collection facility till date. Shyamkumar drew the attention of the Chief Minister and suggested not to allow inidividuals without proper garage to buy vehicles.

Imphal, 30 January 2018 ( Evening News ) : The nation is paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 70th death anniversary today. He was assassinated on this day in 1948. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the Father of the Nation at Rajghat in New Delhi this morning. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chief Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi and leaders from different political parties also paid tributes. An inter-religious prayer was organised on the occasion. Mr Modi and Mr Naidu will attend the inter-faith prayer meet in the evening at Gandhi Smriti, Tees January Marg.The nation also observed a two-minute silence at 11 AM on Martyrs’ Day. Earlier in a tweet, President Kovind said, the nation gratefully remembers Mahatma Gandhi and the countless freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for Independence.

Imphal, 29 January 2018 ( Evening News ) : CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam stated that cheques have been handed over to District Supply Offices of Imphal West, Thoubal and Kangpokpi districts to give out marginal money to agents of fair price shops opened under NFSA in the districts. The minister stated that marginal money for agents in other districts will also be given out as soon as the paper works are over. Speaking to media persons at his office at Old Secretariat, Karam Shyam alleged that the former State Government did not give out any of the bills for transporters and fair Price shop agents under the NFSA  Act. He maintained that even though the former Government did not receive any share from the centre, the new BJP-led Government is able to obtain total funds of 25 crore and 43 thousand Rupees from the Centre. The minister stated that the funds will be able to do away with the plights of the agents. Checques for a total amount of 4 crore 84 lakh 43 thousand 7 hundred and 78 Rupees including 2 crore 37 lakh 89 thousand and 20 rupees for 18 months for Imphal West district, 2 crore 21 lakh 82 thousand 2 hundred and 64 Rupees for 18 months for Thoubal district, while 24 lakh 72 thousand 5 hundred and 12 Rupees for 14 months for Kangpokpi district have been given out to the DSOs concerened. Karam Shyam appealed to District Supply Office (DSO) to maintain transparency in distributing the bill to the agents and transporters of fair price shops opened under NFSA .

On the other hand, CAF& PD Minister Karam Shyam maintained that the final result of the report that Speaker Khemchand's car broke down after filling fuel at PCTC Oil pump on January 23 will be known tomorrow. He said the oil pump was closed down by the IOC under the instruction of the Government since the complaint report was raised. He said findings of the oil sample from Tinsukia Terminal, Malom Depot and PCTC oil pump have not arrived yet. Karam Shyam said the fuel samples have been sent to Digboi Refinery Lab and the result will be out in the open soon. The minister maintained that befitting action will be taken against PCTC Oil pump if its oil sample is found to be adulterated. It may be mentioned that when the officials of IOC went to inspect the oil pump following the report, they found fuel being transferred from a nozzle of PTCP Oil pump into an oil tanker which violates the Marketing Discipline Guidelines of IOC. The IOC, Imphal Division Office issued a 7 days show cause notice to clarify the conduct of PCTC Oil Pump for violating the guidelines.

Imphal, 28 January 2018 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren wished success to students appearing in class 10 examination conducted by BOSEM and class 12 examination conducted by COHSEM this year . He also urged them to appear in the examinations sincerely without using unfair means. Addressing the students appearing in the board exams this year at a well wishing ceremony organised by the Education Department at Hatta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound, today, the Chief Minister announced cash awards of 5 lakh, 4 lakh and 3 lakh rupees each to the first, second and the third position holders respectively in BOSEM’s class 10 and COHSEM’s 12 examinations 2018 . Biren also declared cash awards of 1 lakh rupees each to students securing the top 25 positions in the examinations as well as cash awards for topper students at the districts level. He advised the students gathered at the event not to pursue education only for securing government jobs. The Chief Minister stated that the Government of Manipur has completed digitisation of service books for around 16 thousand Government school teachers. Biren further announced  that a website to make details of students studying outside the state available online will be launched on 1st of february this year. The Chief Minister appealed to the students studying outside the state to enter their details such as their place of residence, names of schools or colleges etc in the soon to be launched Website. He stated that students who have entered their details in the website will be insured a sum of 2 lakh rupees in case of death and 50 thousand rupees will be entitled to each student victim of any untoward incidents.  Education Minister, Th. Radheshyam, Top Officials of the Education department,  students and teachers of schools and colleges in the state attended the event. However, attendance of students who are appearing in this year’s Class 10 and 12 board examinations was quite low at the well wishing event.

      Speaking at the event, Education Minister, Thokchom Radheshyam asserted that proper education will bring an end to all kinds of problems. He opined that with proper education good conducts will ensue. Radheshyam maintained that his recent inspections at Government educational institutes in the state witnessed lack of adequate infrastructure and at the same time, the desires of the teachers to impart quality education and students to attain proper education were seen. He said the State Government is putting the highest effort to revolutionise education sector in the state and appealed for people’s co-operation in this endeavour.

Imphal, 25 January 2018 ( Evening News ) : As observed across the country, National Voters Day was observed in Manipur for enhanced participation of citizens especially the youth in the electoral process, today.  Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur organised the observance at GM Hall, today. Speaking at the event, Chief Secretary, Rajani Ranjan Rashmi asserted that the election commission is older than our constitution. RR Rashmi stated that election is a process where every voter counts and called on the young voters to take pride and have a sense of importance in the electoral process. The Chief Secretary led the youth at the event in taking National Voters Day's pledge. An Electoral Literary Club was also launched as part of the observance. EPIC Cards were distributed to the young voters at the event.  Winners of State Level National Election Quiz, Essay, Painting competition were also felicitated at the event.

The National Voters Day was also observed by State Election Department at Kuranga-yani Hall in Imphal West DC Complex, today. DC Imphal West, N. Geoffery and many young voters of Imphal West took part at the event. EPIC voter cards were distributed to the young voters at the observance held on the theme 'Accessible Election'. Winners of quiz, essay and painting competition held in connection with elections few years ago were also felicitated at the event. The young voters were also administered national voters day pledge by the Deputy Commissioner at the event.
