Imphal, 02 January 2018 ( Evening News ) : Deputy Chief Minister, Y. Joykumar pronounced the allegations made by Kuki Students Organisation, Bungpi Block which appeared in Imphal free Press dailies on December 31 that the Finance Minister and the Tribal Affairs Minister withheld teachers salaries for 6 Autonomous District Council and Education Department as utter baseless charges. The Deputy Chief Minister demanded clarifications from KSO Bungpi Block regarding the matter failing which, he warned of lawful actions against the organisation at the earliest. Addressing media persons at his office in Babupara, today, the Deputy Chief Minister further said it was never stated that the salaries will not be released for the Autonomous District Council and Education Department of the hill areas. He asserted that the salaries supposed to be given will be given. He reiterated that if funds have to been sanctioned at any Emotional Blackmail, it would be equivalent to non existence of a Government in the state. He asserted that a team including the concerned authority need to properly audit the matter with Financial Discipline. He asserted that salaries will not be given until and unless a proper Auditing is conducted and Payment Clearance is issued.

Imphal, 02 January 2018 ( Evening News ) : A team of Narcotic Cell Imphal East District Police arrested a man with 350 gram of high quality heroin number 4 worth around 42 lakh rupees, yesterday. This is the biggest drug bust on the new year as part of the drives taken up by Imphal East District Police to curb drugs menace in the State. The arrested person is identified as Wilson Keishing, 47 years, son of late Yarteo Keishing from Silent Village in Laikoiching, Senapati District. SP Imphal East District Police, Kabik K told media persons that Wilson was arrested by a team led by Sub Inspector, M. Shabbir Ahmed under the supervision of  Additional SP, Imphal East, Wungpam Kasar, DSP, Roni Mayengbam and  Inspector Kh. Devkumar near Lamlong Girls Higher Secondary School at Lamlong market around 6 last evening. The high quality heroin was found inside a packet labelled as 999 that he carried.

Imphal, 31 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren today distributed 54 lakhs and 36 thousand loan under Manipur State Co-operative Bank Limited and NABARD to 41 loanees today. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief minister stated that the people of the state think loans are for free. He appealed to loanees to return the loan in time. He said the Government came to know about the problems of the people after interaction during Meeyam-gi numit and Ching-gi luchingba sing-gi numit. He said the loan are given to those who asked for financial assistance during the Meeyam-gi numit and ching-gi luchingba sing-gi numit and those who run Piggery and Diary Farm under Area Development Scheme of NABARD. The loanees also appreciated the Government for providing them with loans and assured that they will repay it in time.

Imphal, 29 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : A full fledged GST office for Manipur was inaugurated today at North AOC. The Commissioner office for Central GST Commissionerate Imphal was opened at North AOC this morning. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Commissioner of Central GST and Customs North East Region Shillong, WL Hangshing asserted that the new tax regime of Goods and Service Tax will help in nation building. He asserted that GST is a courageous and commendable step of the government of India. He said with people’s cooperation, the nation can develop under the new tax regime. He added that the entire North East States including Manipur lag behind in tax payment. WL Hangshing said under the GST, people in these areas will be able to contribute as part of one nation, one tax and one market system. Taking part in the inauguration of the office, Principal Secretary Finance, Vivek Kumar Dewangan stated that all doubts and apprehensions regarding the GST will be done away when one gets in-depth understanding of the new tax regime. He maintained that the new office in the state will enhance co-ordination between the state and the central government. He also asserted that the state’s revenues and resources will improve under the new tax regime. Commissioner of Central GST Imphal, Gaigondin Panmei, officials of taxation, customs and BSNL Imphal Branch were among those present at the event.

Imphal, 28 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : Four staff of Revenue Department including an SDC were suspended for violating office rules, today. Revenue Minister Karam Shyam said they were suspended in line with his declaration that action will be taken against those employees in the Department who work against the interests of the people. He placed the detailed information regarding the four suspended employees during a press meet at Old Secretariat today. Karam Shyam said he received several complaints against improper utilisation of land resources from in the last 9 months. The suspended officers are N. Suran, SDC Imphal West Central; O Dhanabir, Circle Mandol, SDC Office, Imphal West Central; Th Ibomcha, Supervisor Kanungo (just recently transferred to look after SDC/SDO Office, Chandel) and A Iboton, Supervisor Kanungo, i/c Registrar Kanungo, Directorate of Settlement & Land Records. The minister said both Suran and Dhanabir are responsible for wrong entry of a woman as dead instead of alive regarding land property entitlement. While Supervisor Kanungoo Th. Ibomcha, who was transferred to SDO Office Chandel, was suspended for failing to obey the transfer order and for manipulating land records in Kharungpat by giving land patta allotments to individuals at his will. Supervisor Kanungoo in charge Register Kanungoo at Directorate of Settlement & Land Record Manipur, A. Iboton was suspended for giving away Dak Chitha of lands in and around the proposed Sports University. Karam Shyam asserted further actions will be taken against any employees of the Department if they work against the law. The Minister also appealed to employees of the Revenue Department to discharge their duties sincerely keeping in mind the interest of the people. Meanwhile, as an encouragement, Minister Karam Shyam gave cash award to a staff of Bisnupur SDO office, Ningthoujam Ibochouba for collecting  50 thousand rupees as land revenues in just 10 days. He was also recommended for district level award to be given on the Republic day on 26 January, 2018.
