CM Okram Ibobi inspects Tiddim Road today; pulls up officials for slow work
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today categorically maintained that completion of Sanjenthong Bridge and Imphal Airport Road cannot be completed before Sangai Festival. Speaking exclusively to Impact News, Ibobi said it will be completed after the festival.CM Ibobi along with concerned officials inspected the condition of Tiddim Road today. He asked the concerned officials to take lessons from states like Assam and Bihar and apply the technique in the state for speedy completion of road. He also visited clogged drainage system at Paona Bazar where the machine is not working to flush out dirty materials inside the drain.
World War ll relics found in Heingang Hill
Relics of Second World War were discovered when a JCB excavated earth from Heingang Hill. Mentioned may be made that Head Quarters of 4 Corp commanded by Feield Marshall Slim was stationed at Heingang Hill during the Second World War. The place from where the relics were found was once used as firing range. Owner of the JCB, K Nilachandra handed over the relics to the representatives of the Imphal War Museum.
Indian Olympic Association, Sports Ministry warn AIBA of legal actions
Indian Olympic Association and Sports Ministry have threatened International Amateur Boxing Association, AIBA to take legal action if AIBA gives severe punishment to the Manipuri Boxer Laishram Sarita Devi.Earlier this week, AIBA chief Ching-Kou Wu had said Laishram Sarita Devi would face heavy punishment for her action at the medal ceremony at the recently held Incheon Asian Games. Sarita Devi not only refused to accept bronze medal at the podium but also handed the medal to South Korean boxer Park Jina. The Indian Sports officials informed that they are ready with legal procedures. On the hand, Boxing India said they are trying their level best to make Sarita participate in the Rio Olympics.
Friendly football match played
All Manipur Film Maker and Producers Association, (AMFMPA) team and High Court Bar Association Manipur played a friendly football match yesterday at Khuman Lampak Artificial Turf Ground as part of the 25th foundation day of the High Court Bar Association Manipur. Renowned film personalities and lawyers of the state took part in the match. In the match High Court Bar Association Manipur team beat All Manipur Film Maker and Producers Association by 4-2.
Lack of fund hampers construction of roads and bridges, says minister Kh Ratankumar
Lack of fund has hampered the construction and restoration of roads and bridges in the State. Speaking to media persons at his office at Old Secretariat, Babupara, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar said construction and restoration of roads and bridges are taken up under a very limited resource and tight budget. Allotted amount of Special Plan Assistant fund has also lessen compared to last financial year. However, Imphal Ring Road and Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong Road will be taken up with the first External Added Funding.In the press meet attended by officials of PWD, Transport Department and Asian Development Bank, Dr Kh Ratankumar further maintained that effort are on to bring a consensus with the villagers on land compensation regarding the Tupul road. Nungba road is under construction. Works of Pallel-Chandel road and Tamenglong road are handle by BRO, but State government has talked to the Centre and the BRO official to complete them as soon as possible. Department concerned is trying hard to rectify the recent defect found out in black topping of Thumbuthong and Mongkhang road. Stern action will soon be taken against the contractor and officials involved in compromising the quality.
