Imphal, 10 February 2018 ( Evening News ) : After shops and warehouses were gutted down by the massive fire at the Namphalong Market in Myanmar which is an Indo Myanmar international Business hub at the border town of Moreh, business transactions resumed at the Indo-Myanmar No Men’s Land. Daily wage earning market Vendors from Myanmar brought their commodities for sales at the temporary market set up on the small ground near the No Men’s Land this morning. As Namphalong Market will be reconstructed, for the time being business operators are earning their livelihoods selling various essential commodities including food items at the small temporary market set up in the ground. However, all commodities are not yet available in the temporary market.

Imphal, 05 February 2018 ( Evening News ) : Irate Members of Newly Appointed Employee Association PWD tried to storm the Assembly demanding the BJP led Government to remove Keep in Abeyance of the PWD employees who were appointed in 2016 today. The employees headed towards Assembly from Thangmeiband Muji Khun raising slogans for the same. However, security personnels stationed at the Assembly tried to stop the protestors as the Assembly session was underway at the moment. Later a team of Imphal West Police led by SP, Themthing Ngashangva and Additional SP (Law& Order), Priyadarshani controlled the situation. The protestors fled as the team rushed at the spot. However some of the employees were arrested under the order of SP, Themthing Ngashangva. Speaking to media persons, Spokesperson of Newly Appointed Employee Association PWD, Athuipou Thaimei said the former Government gave appointment order to them in 2016. He said the new BJP-led Government verified the employees again in April 2017 and issued new appointment order on April 19 and gave postings the next day on April 20. Athuipou Thaimei said the BJP-led Government , all of the sudden kept the employees in abeyance after they started attending office on April 29. He said that the association has time and again raised the issue to the Chief Minister and the concerned Minister ,however , they have not received any response from the Government even after one year.

Imphal, 05 February 2018 ( Evening News ) : The BJP led State Government's total estimated budget of 13 thousand,7 hundred 33 point 62 crore rupees for the year 2018-2019  was tabled before the house in the Assembly, today. Some Opposition members left the house without attending the presentation of the budget estimate citing discontentment that their point of order was not put up appropriately by the speaker in the house. Finance Minister, Yumnam Joykumar tabled in the house revenue reciepts at 12 thousand 648 point 94 Crore rupees, and capital reciepts at 1 thousand 84 point 68 Crore rupees. Finance Minister, Y. Joykumar stated that the total estimates of State’s own tax and non tax reciepts assumed in the Budget Estimates are 1 thousand 47 point 58 crore and 248 point 53 crore respectively. Joykumar said that the state's share in Central taxes and Duties is expected to increase by 15 per cent over 2017-18 (RE) and have been estimated at 4 thousand 908 point 76 crore rupees in the budget estimates. The Finance Minister further stated that the total expenditure estimates for 2018-19  is estimated to be 13 thousand 731 point 04 crore rupees out of the Consolidated Fund of the State, an increase of 3.68 per cent over 2017-18 revised estimates of 13 thousand 243 point 67 crores. He said the revenue account is estimated to be in surplus. The fiscal deficit for the year is estimated to be (- minus) 612 point 41 Crore rupees. In the revised estimated revenue of 2018-19,  out of 38 point 25 percent, GSDP will be 37. 34 per cent. On the second day of the 4th session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly, today, Finance Minister, Y. Joykumar presented Demands for Supplementary Grants at 1 lakh 31 thousand 884 point 33 as Grants for Supplementary Demands for the year 2017-18. Chief MInister, Nongthombam Biren tabled the 5th Business Advisory Committee, 2018 in the house, today. One minute silence was maintained and obituary reference given to the late member of the house, Holkholet Khongsai from Saikul Constituency. After the Budget Estimate was tabled in the house, with no other further agenda was there to discuss, speaker of the house adjourned the assembly session for the day.

Imphal, 04 February 2018 ( Evening News ) : Former Superintendent of Manipur State Archaeology Department, Sapam Bheigya asserted that the movement for  inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the schedule tribe list is legitimate. He was addressing a meeting with the representatives of Schedule Tribe Demand Committee at his residence in Tera Sayang Pukhri Mapal today. Bheigya maintained that the territorial integrity and losing identity of the community can be safeguarded if the Meitei/Meetei are enlisted in the schedule tribe list. He said that people of Meitei/Meetei community of the state must support the movement initiated by the Schedule Tribe Demand Committee. He further maintained that the people the hills and valley who co-existed in the state since time immemorial have been wrongly propagated that Arjun of the epic Mahabharata is the ancestor of the Meitei/Meetei. He said for more proactive movement of Schedule Tribe Demand Committee, civil society organisations of both the hills and the valley must join hands and come to an understanding with the 60 MLAs to solve the issue. Joint Secretary of the Commitee K.Bhogendrajit, Publicity Secretary Th.Gopinath, Convenor of Co-ordinating Committee Schedule Tribe Demand Committee ,Mutum Churamani attended the meeting.

Imphal, 030 February 2018 ( Evening News ) : Employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Manipur Division staged a Sit-in for their various demands, today. The Sit -In was organised by All Union and Association BSNL Manipur Division. Taking part in the Sit-In, an employee of BSNL, H. Khogen stated that BSNL employees have been demanding implementation of the Seven Pay commission for a long time and their demand is still being ignored by the State Government. He further alleged the Centre Government of setting up Subsidiary Tower companies which might bring the BSNL to an end. Khogen maintained that such acts of the Government have brought immense grievances to the employees and urged to withdraw them at the earliest. He also urged the Government to fulfil their demands as soon as possible.
