Imphal, 13 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren has announced that 14 projects were selected for inauguration and to lay foundation stones during the Prime Minister’s state visit. Biren assured that no incomplete projects will be inaugurated. He appealed to the people of the state to cooperate and not politicise the State Government’s efforts of inaugurating projects for the welfare of the people. Chief Minister Biren along with various top officials inspected the works undertaken at Luwangsangbam Cricket Stadium where Prime Minister will address the public during his visit. Addressing media persons, during the inspection, Chief Minister  Biren expressed that only completed projects which will provide speedy assistance to the citizens of the state will be inaugurated reflecting the Prime Minister’s desires. Responding to Impact News regarding Dolaithabi Barrage and Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister assured that incomplete projects will not be inaugurated and maintained that the present Government will not follow the previous Government’s concept of inaugurating incomplete projects.

Imphal, 12 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren has inaugurated a Primary Health Centre at Kairang Muslim and a Primary Health Sub Centre at Laipham Khunou in Imphal East District today. The Chief Minister also announced to introduce an Education Scheme by March 15 to provide education to children who cannot get education. The Chief Minister was speaking at the inaugural function of the Health centres held on the campus of the newly inaugurated Laipham Khunou PHSC organised by the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur today. The Chief Minister said BJP came to power in the State as the public wanted change and were not satisfied with the 15 years of Congress Governance in the State. He maintained that the State has witnessed many changes since the BJP came to power. Biren said the Government gives top priority to improve the quality of life of the poor. The Chief Minister reiterated that the Government was able to solve various problems of the people by holding Meeyamgi Numit and Chingi Leader sing numit every month. He said that 'Chief Minister gi Haksel gi tengbang' scheme  also provided Health Assurance Schemes to families below the poverty line. Biren said, other States of the Country have started appreciating the initiatives of the State Government. The Chief Minister also stated that there is plan to introduce Health Insurance Scheme upto 5 lakh Rupees at the Centre by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Taking part in the inaugural function, Health Minister, L. Jayantakumar appealed the Congress party to reflect before they speak. The Minister maintained that election is still very far away and if they want compassion of the people then it would rather be good for them to remain silent rather than talk ill of others. He questioned what harm was there for the BJP led Government to inaugrate, the works initiated by the Congress Government which could not be completed in 15 years of their rule. Jayantakumar said the Congress party might consider the politics of the BJP Government as young, however, this is an era of the youth. He maintained that the educated lot of the State might not be interested at the allegations made by the Congress Party to the BJP Government on media. Jayenkumar said instead of the allegations, the Government welcomes suggestions to improve the works of the Government. The Minister also announced that efforts are on to recruit Doctors through MPSC to fill up the lacking medical faculties in far flung areas of the State.

Imphal, 11 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : Health minister, L. Jayantakumar launched the second round of the 3-day Intensified Pulse polio Immunisation programme by administering polio drops to children of the state. The minister expressed that the government aims to administer polio drops to 2 lakh, 91 thousand and 68 children below 5 years of age. Health & family Welfare Services and State Health Society, Manipur under the aegis of the Indian Government jointly organised the programme with the main objective to prevent children from polio diseases. Speaking at the event held on the campus of Family Welfare Service, BT Road, the minister expressed that the programme was organised with the aim to completely eradicate polio diseases completely. He appealed to the people of the state to co-operate and to give awareness to those who have little knowledge of the disease. The Minister maintained that the Indian Government is giving all out efforts to completely eradicate polio in the country, however, precautionary measures is mandatory as there is high risk of the polio virus entering the border states from the neighbouring countries especially Myanmar. He earnestly appealed to the people of the state to give their full co-operation in bringing a strong and healthy state.

Imphal, 10 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : Illegal constructions along Imphal river banks in Imphal East District were demolished under Manipur Flood Plain Zoning Act as part of the State Government’s measures for prevention of floods in the state. Officials concerned led by SDO Porompat Thounaojam Selina under the supervision of DC Imphal East, demolished illegal constructions along Imphal river banks from Koirengei Market to Bashikhong this morning. Addressing media persons, SDO Porompat Thounaojam Selina expressed that so far the demolition of illegal constructions were carried out smoothly with no hindrances. She said the demolition process is carried under three Circles, namely, Porompat Circle, Bashikhong Circle and Heingang Circle and further mentioned that the drive will be completed soon. Community halls, prayer halls and schools were not included in the demolition.

Illegal constructions along river banks on the immediate northern side of Sanjenthong were also demolished today. Upon reaching the site, Impact News witnessed the encroachers wailing in deep sorrows drawing the attention of the authorities concerned to provide them with dwelling places. They expressed that earlier they used to reside in a khas land for over 30 years, however, a former Minister urged them to settle by the river banks and constructed houses for them and since the last five years have settled by the river banks.

Imphal, 09 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the prestigious ‘‘Nari Shakti Puraskar 2017’’ to Chirom Indira of Manipur at Rastrapati Bhavan, New Delhi yesterday . The award is conferred every year on International Women’s Day organised by Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India. The highest civilian award for women was presented to Chirom Indira from Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai, Imphal West, as a recognition for her immense contribution to women empowerment, and upliftment of socio-economic conditions and for her sacrifice in the handloom sector. Chirom Indira is a renowned woman entrepreneur, Designer, Exporter and social worker in North East India. She is also a national awardee who has also received the All India Women Entrepreneurs Award 2018 (Super Achiever Award) conferred by the Ministry of Textiles, Design Development of Handloom Products, Delhi Management Association.
