Imphal, 05 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : Agitated people blocked Singjamei road for a while against the killing of a sweeping lady of Centre for Research on Environmental Development (CRED) after a car hit her at Singjamei Parking road today. Speaking in connection with the incident, MAHUD Minister, Th. Shyamkumar asserted that Surveillance Cameras will be installed at the earliest so that culprits involved in such incidents can be caught right on time. He maintained that Chief Minister, Biren will be pressurised to keep vehicles for utilising by police personnel at police outposts. The deceased woman is identified as Toijam Tampha, 41 years, wife of Sanathoi from Kyamgei Khoirom Leikai. Sources said Late Tampha is the present Spokesperson for BJP Keirao Mahila Mandal. Other women sweepers who were with Tampha stated that the incident occurred early this morning around 5. They were sweeping the sides of the road. Late Tampha was sweeping the median of the road just when a black Honda City coming from Singjamei Mayeng Leikai hit her and sped away. When other sweepers rushed at the median where the incident occurred, Tampha was found seriously injured on her head and blood profusely bleeding from it. Despite their frantic calls to chase after the culprits, since it was early in the morning, there was no one with vehicles around to run after the miscreant. Police sources said, Tampha succumbed to her injuries on her way to the hospital. After the incident, family members of the deceased from Kyamgei and people from the colony where the incident occurred rushed to Singjamei Parking and started blocking the road in agitation and no vehicle were allowed to cross the road. MLA Keirao, L. Rameshwor and top police personnel of Singjamei Police came and pacified the people not to block the road. The people finally gave in after being assured that the culprits involved in the car accident will be caught at the earliest.  Police sources said that the car vanished after driving towards Khagempalli road. The police gave the assurance that the number of the Car will be identified soon and the culprit will be arrested at the earliest. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to her family.

Imphal, 03 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : A youth who went to attend Thabal Chongba was shot dead at his own gate on the first day of Yaoshang Festival yesterday. The unfortunate incident took place around 1:30 early this morning at Nagamapal Phougei Sangbam Leikai. The deceased is identified as Jagat @ Tony, 24 years, son of Thokchom Suresh from Nagamapal Phougei Sangbam Leikai under Imphal Police Station.  Sources of Impact News that Jagat, a Tata DI driver is a breadwinner of the family. Jagat went out to attend Thabal Chongba at Keishampat along with 4 friends last night. Jagat and his friends had a heated argument with some individuals on account of overtaking of vehicles on his way back home. The individuals in a Maroon Colour Hyundai I-10 stopped Jagat when he reached the gate of his house and an individual reportedly fired 2 rounds from a Double Barrel and hit Jagat’s back. Locals and family members of the deceased immediately rushed him to Raj Medicity. Members of Rising Knowledge club and Meira Paibi members and people of the locality staged a sit in by blocking the road in the locality against the death today. Speaking to media persons, elder sister of the deceased, Thokchom Jina questioned the intention behind killing of a person over a mere argument. She appealed to the state Government and the authority Concerned to find out the culprit and warned of not taking the dead body if the culprit is not punished at the earliest.

Taking part in the Sit-in, Thangmeiband MLA, Khumukcham Joykishan told Impact News that SP Imphal West Police, Themthing Ngasangva assured that truth behind the death will be found out at the earliest and befitted punishments will be awarded to the culprits. Joykishan drew the attention of the state Government on unreasonable issuance of licensed guns to civilians and further appealed to the state government to give due consideration on the matter to prevent any such untoward incident in the future.

Yaoshang Day 2

Imphal, 02 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : The 5 day Yaoshang Sports Festival kicked off across the State with gaiety and festive fervour today. The festival of colour which has been celebrated in the State by organising Sports festival was kicked off by getting torch from sacred Kangla fort. Different clubs and organisations came to historical place Kangla Fort early this morning to collect sacred fire which was later taken to their respective localities to mark the opening of the Yaoshang Sport Festival. Boys, girls and elders from different parts of Imphal Valley came to Kangla from Eastern, North and Western gates of Kangla to fetch torch from 3 different sacred shrines of Ebudhou Pakhangba at Kangla Utra Shanglen. People were seen eagerly waiting for the sacred flamed sports torches outside the Kangla Fort. Imphal West District Police, Top officers of City Police including police personnel kept a strict vigil around the sacred flame shrine in Kangla and helped in easy movement of the people. Apart from Imphal City, clubs and organisations in areas away from the city also commenced the yaoshang sports festival by lighting their sports torches from their nearby sacred shrines.

Imphal, 25 February 2018 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister N. Biren announced that efforts are on to introduce over 100 schemes from March 1 to 15 in connection with the completion of 1 year rule of BJP-led Government in the State. The Chief Minister was addressing media persons on the side lines of distribution of loans at CM Secretariat , today. Biren said the Government will hold fortnight inauguration from March 1 to 15 celebrating its 1 year rule in the State. He reiterated that Union Home Minister Rajnath singh and Amit Shah will visit the state on March 14 to participate the celebration and National Science Congress. On the other hand, the Chief Minister said a meeting of the Chief Ministers of BJP Led State Governments , cabinet ministers with the Prime Minister will be held in New Delhi on February 28. He said the achievements of the BJP led State Government and holding of elections of all the States at a same time will be discussed during the meeting. Biren said the visit of Prime Minister to the State will also be confirmed during the meeting.
