Imphal, 17 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : Chief Engineer of Minor Irrigation department has cited inconveniences brought on by the lack of cooperations among various departments of the state government. Responding to Impact News query on the condition of Ningthibi khong in Lilong Nungei, during a media interaction held at DIPR complex in Moirangkhom today in continuance of DIPR’s series of press meets with officials of state’s departments to aware the public on various welfare projects undertaken by the Departments, Chief Engineer of Minor Irrigation Department, L. Gourakishore stated that when the Minor Irrigation department was trying to repair Shutters of Ningthibo Khong affected by the floods, another department was already on it. The Chief Engineer’s later responses to Impact News Query highlighted communication barrier between the Water Resources department and the Minor Irrigation department while addressing flood affected victims’ grievances. He maintained that miscommunication between departments hinders works, however the departments have now started working in co-operation to accomplish various developmental projects. The Chief Engineer also briefed the media on various developmental projects undertaken by the department during the meet including 557 schemes of PMKSY undertaken for 16 districts of the state, and efforts to install 2 rain water harvesting projects each in Churachandpur, Ukhrul, Senapati, Chandel and Tamengnlong Districts. Gourakishore stated that sand quarrying and destruction of irrigation related structures due to unmindful acts of the people caused much inconveniences to the Minor Irrigation department especially in providing irrigation to paddy fields.

Imphal, 16 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : Prime Minster Narendra Modi has inaugurated 4 projects during his visit to the State today.  The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stones of 7 Projects including  National Sports university and Thangemiband Chierao Chingda Eco Tourism. Narendra Modi lauded the women of the State that women’s power in the State has always been a source of inspiration for the Country. The Prime Minister inaugurated Luwangpokpa Multi Sports Complex, Rani Gaidinliu Park, Schedule tribe Girls Hostel and Women Market Nu-Te Bazar in Churachandpur at the inaugural event held at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangshangbam in Heingang Constituency by unveiling Inaugural Plaque after addressing the Science Congress at MU this morning. Narendra Modi also laid the foundation stones of National Sports university, 1 thousand Anganwadi centres, 19 residential complex of  doctors and nurses,  Satvabhana Mandap, repair works of road from Korengei to Sekmai, Eco Tourism on Cheirao Ching, and a Cave tourism at Kangkhui cave. The Prime Minister witnessed “Progressive Manipur” an exhibition on the developmental steps of the State departments before attending the inaugural event. On the other hand , Narendra Modi also presented a memento to Rajya Sabha MP, boxer MC Mary Kom for her contribution in promoting and developing Boxing in the Country. The Prime Minister addressed the large number of people from different parts of the State gathered at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium for over 30 minutes. He lauded the BJP led State Government that the promise made by the Government to take up works in 15 days which the former Congress led Government could not do in 15 years of rule has been translated into action. The Prime Minister maintained that law and order in the State has improved, there is no more bandh and blockade, corruption has been decreased,and that not only the incomplete infrastructures have been completed but other developmental works have also been initiated.

The Prime Minister’s address to the people of the state today began with the word ‘Thagatchari’, an expression of appreciation in Manipuri. The Significant point in his speech was the appreciation for women folks of Manipur for all their roles and contributions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised women of the state right from Rani Gaidinliu to MC Mary Com, Sarita, Mirabai Chanu, Bombayla Laishram etc. Modi stressed that the roles played by women of Manipur set an example for women in other parts of India. The Prime Minister stated that government at the Centre initiated Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme to facilitate education to young girls with an aim to empower women of the country. He appreciated the state government for launching the scheme in the state and providing its benefits to the people. On the other hand, Modi said that the Central Government acknowledged the sports potential of youths in the state and has sanctioned setting up of a National Sports University at an estimated cost of 500 crore rupees in the state. He further appreciated the commencing of Sports University classes in two different areas since January this year. Modi maintained that crores of rupees are being sanctioned every year by the Centre in connection with Khelo India projects to enhance sports sector all over the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that every youth in Manipur should seize such opportunity provided by the Government and further commended that a small state like Manipur marched ahead of other major states of the country in Khelo india School games.

Imphal, 15 March 2018 ( Evening News ): Andro Police has arrested four individuals alleged to be involved in the killing of Moirangthem Megha who allegedly disrupted the Lai Haraoba performance on March 7 at Yairipok Top Chingtha Mathak. The four arrested persons are identified as Pukhrihongbam Raju, 41 years from Yairipok Laimanai, Konjengbam Nilakanta from Yairipok Top Chingtha Mathak, Maibam Jiban from Yairipok Top and Laishram Munal from Yairipok Top Chingtha Pukhri Achouba Mapal. Andro Police arrested them on March 13 and were later produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal East yesterday. They are kept in Police remand for further investigations.

Imphal, 15 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren visited old age Homes, children homes and Mentally Retarded centre in connection with the first anniversary of the BJP governance in the state today. Biren asserted that his government will give top priority to the poor and the destitutes.  The Chief Minister accompanied by Social welfare Minister, Nemcha kipgen, Revenue Minister, K. Shyam and MLAs visited old age Home set up by All Manipur Senior citizen Welfare Association at Mongsanggei, BB Paul mental development home, Destitute Children home at Tera Keithel, Carmel Jyoti children home at Luwangsangbam and Dewlaland Children home. Biren presented gifts to the aged persons at the old Age home in Mongsangei and encouraged them not to be disheartened. The Chief Minister also assured that Health cards under Chief minister gi Haksel gi tengbang will also be handed over to the elderly persons at the Home within a week. Biren assured that the lacking infrastructure at the home including food items will be provided at the earliest. He also assured to provide a domestic water pipeline to the Homes in consultation with the officials of Public Health Engineering Department. The Chief Minister also presented gifts to the other Homes he visited today. Biren encouraged the Children at the homes not to lose heart but instead focus on education to be successful in life. Speaking on the sidelines of the Visit, Chief Minister Biren said the Union Home Ministry has agreed to start helicopter service in the State by issuing a formal letter at 75 per cent subsidy scheme and the remaining 25 per cent by the State Government. The Minister also maintained that the Thoubal Multi Purpose Project and Dolaithabi Barrage Project which were earlier planned to be inaugurated during the Prime Minister’s Visit to the State tomorrow will not be inaugurated as the projects are yet to be completed.

Imphal, 13 March 2018 ( Evening News ) : MPCC has demanded completion of Ima Market Extension constructed on the site of earlier Tombisana High school near Old Assembly Road to facilitate women vendors. MPCC advised Chief Minister Biren not to brag and deceive the public by speaking whatever he feels. Members of MPCC led by its spokesperson Pangeijam Saratchandra and Hariswar Goswami inspected the construction of the Ima Market extension which was initiated by former Congress government today. Addressing media persons, Hariswar Goswami stated that Congress government initiated the project to do away with the plights of the women vendors. He said that the main works of the structure like foundation and basement were already completed by the previous government. He asserted that the present government should complete the construction at the earliest if the government is considerate for its people's welfares. He said Chief Minister Biren earlier assured of inaugurating Civil Secretariat building and dams and now he said incomplete projects will not be inaugurated. He accused Chief Minister Biren of deceiving the public by stating whatever comes to his mind.  New spokesperson of MPCC, P Saratchandra also questioned the BJP led government for neglecting the completion of Ima Market extension.
