RAHUL GANDHI HITS BACK, ACCUSES PM MODI OF CORRUPTION
Imphal, 28 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : All India Congress Committee’s Vice President Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being involved in Corruption even though he declared to end corruption in Manipur, today. He further asserted even after more than 2 and a half years old ruling Centre’s BJP Government has not taken up any developmental works in Manipur so far. Rahul Gandhi said, instead of any developmental works, the Prime Minster is only doing his share of spreading disharmonies amongst various communities in the state during his visit. In his 27 mins speech at a public meeting in connection with the 11th Manipur Assembly Election organised by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee at Hatta Kangjeibung, Rahul Gandhi alleged the BJP led government at the Center for not taking up any developmental works for Manipur. He raised the question as to what happened to the Jiribam road which was supposed to be constructed in 100 days and also demanded a proper reason for failure to construct the proposed Sports University in Manipur. He further questioned the BJP for not consulting the Chief Minister of Manipur and people of this state while signing the Naga’s Accord with NSCN-IM. Rahul Gandhi asserted with regards to signing of NSCN-IM and India Govt’s Framework Agreement, none of the Centre’s cabinet ministers were aware of it but it was only the Prime Minister who knew it. He accused Modi of blaming the Chief Minister of Manipur on his visit for corruption while he couldn’t provide any documents to prove it as evidence for his accusations. On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi produced a document of Income Tax Department’s raids in Sahara and Birla Group as evidence to the public which shows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi received crores of rupees from the two companies: Sahara and Birla Group. Rahul gandhi asked Narendra Modi’s Government reasons for not conducting further investigations regarding the raids. Javadekar Accuses Congress Of Dividing Manipur
Imphal, 28 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar asserted Congress party tries to disintegrate Manipur while BJP tries to bring unity and integrate Manipur. Prakash Javadekar made the statement at the public meeting held in connection with the flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate in Keishamthong AC, RK Shivachandra at Nganappi Thong community hall. Union HRD Minister mocked the Congress Government’s claim to provide safe drinking water to the people if it forms the govt again when it could not provide in its 15 years of governance. He continued it is disheartening as an HRD minister to see the students in Govt. schools hardly pass class 10th examination and said it is the fault of the Congress Govt that most people tend to go to private schools. He maintained if BJP forms the new Govt. the inconveniences facing the people to send their children to private school will be done with and students in private schools will be migrated to Govt. schools.
Narcotic Cell Team seizes Zolpidem Tablet Worth Over 7 Lakh
Imphal, 27 February 2017 (Evenng News ) : A team of Narcotic Cell, Imphal East seized 600 strips of Zolpidem Tablets worth around 7 lakh rupees which will worth more than double the amount in the Black Market, today. The seized tablets were couriered by a person named Shahbazur Rehman from Chand Bagh in Delhi to a person named Julia Anal in Chakpikarong of Churachandpur District. The said tablets were seized on february 16 from a Post Office Speed Post Delivery Van on road near Palhanbi in Chanchipur by Narcotic Cell Team Imphal East led by OC Shabbir Ahamed on its way to Chakpikarong. The seized and sealed tablets when opened today in front of CJM Imphal East, revealed Zolpidem Tablets , a type of sedatives used as sleeping pills
Union minister Javadekar accuses Congress govt of converting development projects into monuments
Imphal, 26 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Union Human Resource development minister Prakash Javadekar today accused the Okram Ibobi govt of converting several development project in the state into monuments. Addressing a press meet at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office at Nityaipat Chuthek, Prakash Javadekar alleged that the congress govt has failed to utilise infrastructure built spending huge amount of money. He asked why the Inter State Bus Terminus at Chingmeirong is lying unused for two years and the big building converted into a monument. Javadekar also asked why 25 low floor buses are lying at the MSRTC at Moirangkhom. He said the govt could provide safe drinking water to the people living in and around Imphal City. The union minister observed that the people have been spending Rs 2000 per month to purchase water and it is unfortunate that the people in the heart of the city cannot be provided drinking water 70 years after India attained independence. He also alleged that the chief minister has been making false propaganda against the centre regarding the law and order in the state. Javadekar also said India being a federal structure the centre cannot interfere with the state's law and order situation unless the state govt asked about it. The union minister described the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Imphal as a success and asserted that the BJP will get more than 40 seats and form the govt.
Two including 7-month-old baby injured as police fire tear gas shells in Khundrakpam
Imphal, 26 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Two including a 7-month old baby were injured and people damaged two police vehicles in a poll related violence in Khundrakpam Awang Leikai in Khundrakpam constituency. A 61-year-old man and his 7-month-old grand-daughter were hurt when police fired several rounds and tear gas shells to control the crowd. The incident occurred this morning when police came to arrest Maibam Khogen, a resident of the locality. According to Maibam Khogen, a team of police came to arrest him last evening on a false charge of firing bullets. He said the people of the locality know whether he fired or not. He suspected that the allegation was made after his son Maibam John set up a BJP camp at his house. Khogen said the congress candidate in the constituency Th. Lokeshwar who was travelling in a vehicle pointed his finger at him last evening. He told the media that this morning a team of Imphal East police led by the officer in charge came to arrest him. There was scuffle between the police and the locals. Maibam Khogen who is a Sub Inspector of police enquired about the arrest memo which the police team could not produce. As the situation became tense the police allegedly fired several rounds and tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Pukhrambam Nabachandra and his 7-month-old grand daughter were injured in the incident. A public meeting was held condemning the allegation on Maibam Khogen at Khundrakpam Awang Leikai.
