Imphal, 08 May 2016 : Senior Advocate Khaidem Mani today reiterated that the 3 bills passed by Manipur assembly to protect the indigenous people are not anti-tribal. Speaking at a press meet at his residence the senior advocate called for an open debate in presence of the national media to clear the misunderstanding about the 3 bills passed by the assembly. Drawing the attention of those who opposed the 3 bills, Khaidem Mani urged the people to voluntarily withdraw the bills if they are found to be anti tribal in the open debate or jointly pressurise the Centre to give consent to the bills if they are not anti tribal. He said the JCILP has resumed its agitation due to negligence of the govt. He said the state govt should have urged the president to give his assent sooner. Mani also stressed that tribal leaders of the state are aware that the 3 Bills are not anti tribal.

Imphal, 08 May 2016 : Chief minister Okram Ibobi has called for an all political party meeting tomorrow at 9 am to discuss the ILPS issue. In a press release the Manipur Pradesh congress committee stated that chief minister Okram Ibobi have invited the leaders of all political parties to a meeting to discuss the next course of action. The press release also said a team will soon leave for Delhi to pressurise the president of India to give his assent to the 3 bills passed by the Manipur assembly to protect the indigenous people of the state. It claimed that the assembly unanimously passed the bills after considering the comments of all political parties, experts and leaders of civil society organisations. The release also said the MPCC president discussed the matter with the chief minister and deputy chief minister on Saturday and decided to hold an all party meeting to pressurise the president to give his assent to the bills.

Imphal, 08 May 2016 : Members of joint committee on inner line permit system, JCILPS Women's Wing today attempted to storm the office of the BJP Manipur Pradesh at Nityaipat Chuthek. However the protestors were stopped at the gate of the BJP office by police personnel who were already posted at the site since morning. The women protestors refused to leave the place saying that they will meet the leaders of the BJP. Tussle broke out between the police personnel and the JCILPS women's wing and the women protestors waited for the BJP leaders to come out from the office. Some representatives of BJP came out to meet them after the protestors waited for nearly half an hour.  They assured the women agitators that the party would work in the interest of the people and they are discussing the issue. The women protestors then proceeded towards Keisampat shouting slogans. The women protestors also tried to storm the Congress Bhawan at BT road.

Imphal, 08 May 2016 : A class ten student has been missing since the 2nd of this month. Residents of Irong Khunou today held a meeting in connection with the missing of the boy. Md. Tariq Khan Yumkhaibam from Irong khunou under Mayang Imphal police station is a student of Brighter Academy, New Checkon and stays at Peace & Learning Hostel at Hatta Golapati. He left his home on May 2 for his hostel and is untraceable. A JAC against the missing of Md. Tariq Khan has been formed to trace the missing boy. JAC convenor Md. Junab Ali Cheshabam said the boy had Rs 5300 on him when he heft home. Yesterday the boy's family got a call from 9310652843 but the line was cut before they could speak. Today the family got a call from another number, 7421058285 and the caller asked them to hold a meeting. Junab Ali said the JAC is certain that the student had been abducted. He appealed to the Government to find the boy and to the abductors to release him unharmed. The JAC will submit a memorandum to the govt tomorrow.

Imphal, 07 May 2016 ( Evening News): The 42-hour public curfew called by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System - JCILPS hit life for the second day today. Almost all the areas in Imphal city and its neighbourhood wore a deserted look as people continued to remain indoors during the public curfew. All the major business establishments, markets including Khwairamband Keithel, Thangal bazar and Paona Bazar, educational institutes and private offices remained closed. All the inter-state public transport services were suspended even on the second day of the curfew today. There is no report of untoward incidents till the filing of this report. The curfew will end at 6pm today. JCILPS yesterday had asked the people to form human chains and shout slogan demanding ILPS from 5pm to 6 pm today. It may be mentioned that JCILPS imposed public curfew from the midnight of May 5 demanding conversion of the 3 bills passed by the State Legislative Assembly to an Act.
