Imphal, 11 May 2016 ( Evening News) : The condition of Tourangbam Tarini worsened today as her indefinite fast unto death entered the third day. A team of Imphal West Chief Medical Officer today monitored her health.  Tourangbam Tarini from Uripok Gopalaji Leirak sustained injuries in a police crackdown during an ILPS protest rally on Monday. She began her fast unto death demanding punishment to the police personnel involved in the assault. Meanwhile, the residents of Uripok continue to block the Uripok-Kangchup Road in support of Tarini. The local people have been blocking the road since May 9. JAC formed in connection with the physical assault on Tarini said they will intensify their agitation if the govt fails to produce the accused police personnel and give punishment according to law of the land.

Imphal, 10 May 2016 : Sky Hospital & Research Centre for the first time performed a complex coronary Angiosplasty and Stenting (PCI) saving a woman’s life who was in a critical condition following a cardiac attack. Sky Hospital and Research Centre’s Chief Cardiologist Dr. L. Shyamkishore and his team performed the life saving surgery on Lucy Hungshi, 54 years from Poumai Colony, Imphal East. Lucy was brought to the hospital following an attack on the April 25 with breathing difficulty and she could barely move. The hospital informed that she would be discharged soon.

Imphal, 10 May 2016  : Escalation in the agitation of the Joint Administrative Council’s protest against the Transport Department’s “one time tax” looms large. Speaking at the a press meet held at the Joint Administrative Council’s office located at Rupmahal Tank, B.T. Road, Convenor L. Somorendo said that the drivers and the owners of the All Manipur under 5 tone passenger service vehicles won’t be able to pay the one time tax. He further added that if the Transport Department fails revoke the order by tomorrow, they would be compelled to return their licences and permits to the Transport Dept.

Imphal, 09 May 2016 : Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today convened an all political party meeting at CM Secretariat at 9 this morning. The meeting resolved to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pressurised to give assent to the 3 bills passed by the state assembly on August 31 last year. A delegation from Manipur will leave for New Delhi within 16th of this month to meet the central leader.

Imphal, 09 May 2016 ( Evening News) :Tourangbam Tarini, 45  wife of T. Anil of Uripok Gopalji Leirak who was injured in the police action yesterday evening during the torch rally organised by JCILPS began fast unto death until ILPS is implemented in the state at Uripom Sobor Thingel Community Hall. Tarini yesterday tried to stop police from thrashing some youths during the rally. In return, police beat her up in which Tarini fractured her left wrist and thumb. Condemning the police action against a woman protestor, Tarini said she took the step demanding punishment of the police involved and immediate implementation of ILPS. Tarini also vowed not to take any treatment of the injury till her demands are met. Member of Uripok Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Tourangbam Mangal Leima said thrashing of a woman by police is strongly condemnable and punishable. People of Uripok areas will extend all-out support for the implementation of ILPS in the state. Sources added that a meeting will be held between the JCILPS and the people of Uripok areas and take a decision on the incident.
