Imphal, 08 April 2017 ( Evening News ) : Education Minister, Thokchom Radheshyam has warned of stern action against those responsible for the physics question paper leak. The physics question paper of class 12 examination conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur was leaked  on the 5th of this month. Radheshyam asserted that any staff of Government or Private schools or officials from bottom to top will not be spared if found guilty. Speaking to media persons at RAMSA office in Babupara today, the education minister said the question paper was opened at 9:15 am and the paper was circulated at 9:20 AM. Radheshyam maintained that the paper must have leaked from the examination hall and that he is certain of involvement of the staff of Govt or Private school who are on duty inside the hall. He said the Cyber Crime Unit of Manipur police is investigating the matter to identify the culprits and the education department will also probe the matter. Radheshyam, however confirmed that the exam will not be cancelled. He also stated that he will also probe  into teachers posted in the hills and valley who hire substitutes and take stern actions against those found guilty. The minister also appealed to the public to extend support to measures taken by the government to improve quality of education in the state. It may be mentioned that 16 persons, including a DESAM leader were nabbed by the police in connection with the Physics Question paper leak.

Imphal, 08 April 2017 ( Evening News ) : An IMC corporator has warned the people against collection of money and Aadhaar cards by some persons promising vending space over the Naga river in Imphal. Corporator of ward number 3, Imphal Municipal Corporation, Hijam Nutanchandra has also appealed to those persons who are collecting money and Aadhaar cards from the vendors promising a space over Naga river to stop doing so. Addressing media persons at his residence in Thangmeiband Thingel maru, Nutanchandra clarified that there is no such arrangements by the MAHHUD Minister and the IMC. He urged the public to extend all possible support in the cleanliness drive of the minister instead. Nutanchandra also said the steps taken by the minister is for the welfare of women vendors and appealed to all women vendors not to create an issue. Corporator of Ward Number 25, Sujata Phaomei and ward member Manglem also took part in the press meet.

Imphal, 07 April 2017 ( Evening News ) : Chief minister Nongthombam Biren in his first visit to a hill district after becoming the chief minister today inspected Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Regional Campus situated in Makhan in Kangpokpi district. During the visit the chief minister once again mentioned that the anti corruption cell has received about 400 complaints and FIR has been lodged in connection with some genuine cases. Director-in-charge of the Regional Campus urged the Chief Minister to make arrangement to meet the needs of the campus. The CM told him to submit the list of requirements so that he can discuss the matter with the HRD Ministry. Biren also met the faculty members and students of the University and appealed to them to work hard to improve the standard of the University. He assured them of construction of security barracks and deployment security personnel on the campus.Tribal and Hill Areas Minister, N. Kiyasii, Social Welfare Minister, Nemcha Kipgen, Parliamentary Secretary, Dingo and top officials of education department  accompanied the chief minister during the visit.

Imphal, 06 April 2017 ( Evening News ) : BJP Manipur Pradesh today celebrated the 37th foundation day of Bharatiya Janata Party as celebrated across the country. The event was held at its office at Nityaipat Chuthek. The party's president Ksh Bhabananda, former presidents of the party Th. Chaoba, M. Bhorot, Dr H Borbabu, Sh Shantikumar, chief minister Nongthombam Biren, works minister Th Biswajit and BJP members participated in the celebration.  Speaking at the function Chief Minister Nonthombam Biren said the BJP govt in the state is a god's gift to the people. He was optimistic that the govt will last long to serve the people. Biren disclosed that the recently opened Anti Corruption Cell has received nearly 400 complaints from the people. He said probe has already begun in some genuine complaints. The chief minister also stated that the govt will ensure that an officer does not take more than two days to process a file. He asserted the gap between the hills and valley has decreased after the new Government took charge. Biren said steps will be taken to ensure that pensioners do not have to wait in long queues at banks.

Imphal, 04 April 2017 : Irrigation and Flood Control Department (IFCD), Minister, Letpao Haokip inspected many flood affected areas and assured of taking up measures to reduce the inconveniences faced by the people. Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (CAFPD), Minister, Karam Shyam also took part in the inspection. The team visited many flood affected areas under Langthabal Constituency like the Administrative Block of Manipur University, Kakwa, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai. IFCD Minister has instructed the officials to demolish the dam in Manipur University’s Administrative Block which is one of the major reasons behind flooding in Langthabal constituency. River Basin of Turembi river running from Singjamei being encroached and houses constructed by some people are preventing water flow and is a major reason for flooding in this area. Addressing media persons, IFCD, Minister, Letpao Haokip said as a  short term measure MU’s dam will be demolished. He also said long term policies to prevent flood related issues will be taken up at Cabinet meetings. Haokip  said a meeting with the Revenue department will be held soon to discuss matters regarding land encroachments in the river basin for the demolition to be carried out at the earliest. The minister appealed the public to cooperate in these efforts.  CAF & PD Minister and Langthabal MLA, Karam Shyam said the students are facing educational inconveniences due to floods and assured the people of tackling the issue. He said regular discussions will be held with flood related departments to bring about a solution at the earliest.
