Imphal, 5 April 2016 : More than 300 trucks loaded with PDS items are stranded on the road, due to full capacity in FCI godown. The truck drivers are now worried that due to rains the PDS items will be spoilt. FCI Officials are unable to give permission for unloading of PDS items as the godown is in full capacity. 361 trucks along with drivers and handyman are on the roadside in front of Sangaiprou FCI godown for more than a month now. Trucks carrying the PDS items mainly rice and wheat from Jiribam arrived in the state on Feb 28 this year. Due to rains in past couple of days drivers and handy-men  are facing problems due to lack of proper shelter. Today All Manipur Road Transport Driver’s and Motor Workers Union drew the attention of authority concerned to allow them to unload the food items at the Sangaiprou FCI godown within 2 days. The Union threatened that in case their demand is not met than they will protest along with the truck drivers.

Imphal, 5 April 2016 : Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kh. Joykishan today accused the Congress party for breakdown of governance in India. MLA Joykishan was hopeful that BJP will be able to form the next govt in the state after sweeping the upcoming general election and Imphal Municipal Co-operation election. Joykishan challenged the Congress party saying that the newly appointed MPCC President TN Haokip would not be able to save his party from losing in the upcoming elections. Addressing media persons at the newly inaugurated Kathi Junction Restaurant in Thangmeiband DM College, MLA Joykishan said like the people of Manipur the Assamese people also want to change the Congress govt.

Imphal, 5 April 2016 : Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee - MPCC today joined the Indian National Congress Party in country-wide protests against the NDA govt led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for targeting Congress governed states in the country. The Congress is protesting against NDA govt for imposing President's Rule in Uttrakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. In the state, MPCC and DCC organised the sit-in in front of Congress Bhavan gate. MPCC President T.N. Haokip told media persons that NDA govt is constantly attacking the Congress governed states and described it as a murder of 'Democracy'. On the other hand, MPCC General Secretary RK. Imo said Congress party has no problem in case other party comes to power after contesting election in a democratic manner. He said imposing Article 356 that is President's Rule on a govt led by a majority party has never happened in the tenure of UPA govt. Although today's sit-in was skipped by majority of Ministers, Assembly Deputy Speaker, Parliamentary Secretary and many Congress MLAs attended the sit-in.

Imphal, 5 April 2016 : After missing the deadline for supplying electricity to Myanmar, work is in full swing now. Today a 5 Mega watt transformer was installed to provide electricity to myanmar. The 33/11 KB sub-station in Moreh will have two transformer, one to provide power to morel and another one to Myanmar. Electricity lines is also laid at electric posts near the Indo-Myanmar iron bridge. The electric lines have also been connected to the transformer located inside Myanmar Immigration Office Complex. Although it is not clear when India will supply electricity to Myanmar. The March 25 deadline was missed after Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Electric Power Committee, Tamu of Myanmar on March 5 this year regarding the power supply.
