Social Welfare minister Ak Mirabai inaugurated the 5th Chinjak Festival International at Yaipha Lamjing Lup Ground, Pishum Ningom Leikai. Speaking at the function organised by Boss Juices Imphal and Innovative Youth Society, AK Mirabai said the mindset of people is changing with the change in food habit. Crimes are increasing in our society because of eating what we should not eat. She also said it time to conserve and preserve our age old traditions. Managing Director, Chinjak Festival Organising Committee, Khuraijam Athouba said the festival, first time in Imphal West district is being organised with the objective to save indigenous food and Save Nambul river. 150 indigenous food items will be made available in the festival to draw foreign tourists. Khuraijam Athouba also said Innovative Youth Society is trying to construct a Living Heritage Complex at Sanapat, Andro. Keishamthong MLA Laisom Ibomcha, who attended the function said the govt should develop a separate department to preserve and protect indigenous food items and games.
