Imphal, 08 August 2017 ( Evening News ) : Gold biscuits worth more than 1 Crore rupees has been recovered today from a man coming from Moreh. He was  arrested around 8.30 this morning at Khudengthabi Check Post and was carrying 25 gold biscuits weighing 4 KG and 157 gram. The person has been identified as a 45 year old, Raju Muniyandi  from Moreh Ward Number 3. Acting on a tip off, 12th Assam Rifles conducted a search operation at Khudeng Thabi Check Post. Raju had hidden the gold biscuits beneath the driver's seat in the Maruti van bearing Registration Number MN01G-8270, that he was driving. A case has been registered at Moreh Police station for further legal actions.

Imphal, 06 August 2017 ( Evening News ) : Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla today assured that Manipur will soon have flying doctors. She said the  Aviation Ministry has agreed to provide 25 Crore Rupees to buy  helicopter for the purpose. The governor was speaking at an event of Japanese Hospital Manipur held at JNIMS Conference Hall today.  She maintained that healthcare was a major concern  when she took over as the Governor of the state. Dr Heptulla said due to geographical factors, many people in the remote areas have no access to good healthcare. The Governor said  she had notified both the state govt and the centre regarding the matter. Even in the recently held North East Council meeting, attention of the Aviation Minister and ministry concerned were drawn to the need for a helicopter service. She said the Aviation Ministry has agreed to sanction funds for helicopter and facilities for flying doctors. Dr Heptulla said Japan and India have a cordial relationship since a long time. Presence of a Japanese Hospital in the state will benefit people in terms of healthcare. JNIMS Director Dr Th Bhimo, representatives of Japanese Hospital Manipur and several doctors attended the function.

Imphal, 05 August 2017 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren today kicked off Vistarak initiative which is aimed at establishing direct contact with people at the party’s office at Nityaipat Chuthek today. The chief minister flagged off 20 vehicles with 30 Vistarak volunteers. Speaking at the event, the chief minister said these volunteers will visit 2 thousand 794 Polling Booths in all assembly constituencies of the state to spread the message of Pandit Deendayal Upadhay. The event was organised as part of the 100th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, one of the important leaders of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sang-RSS. The volunteers will also observe Patriots Day on the 13th of this month in memory of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters of the state. The chief minister said they will raise awareness about the achievement of 3 years of Narendra Modi Govt and 100-day of the state Govt on the occasion. Works Minister, Thongam Bishwajit and several BJP leaders were present at the function.

Imphal, 05 August 2017 : A symposium on Breast Feeding was held at Keishamthong Kabui Village Community hall in connection with World Breast Feeding week today. World Breast Feeding week is observed across the globe from August 1. The week is observed in various parts of the state on the theme ‘Sustaining Breast Feeding Together World Breast Feeding week’ by Community and nutrition Extension Unit, Ministry of Women and Child development, Chingamathak, in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare. Speaking at the symposium L.S Wallang emphasised the benefits of breast milk for the child. He said breastfeeding is the best way to provide newborns with the nutrients they need.

Imphal, 05 August 2017 : All Manipur Clubs Organisation, AMUCO today called upon all the communities living in Manipur to stand together to protect the integrity of the state. AMUCO President, Ph. Devan recalled the mammoth people's protest rally held against the ceasefire agreement signed between the Govt of India and NSCN (IM) in 1997 at the event held yesterday to mark the  Integrity Day at Manipur Dramatic Union Hall. He said the people of Manipur have been suffering after Manipur became a part of India. He alleged that under AFSPA and the centre's Divide & Rule Policy a misunderstanding has been created between the hill and valley. Devan also accused the govt of signing MoU with Multi-national companies to exploit the Resources of the state.  He asserted that the Meitei, Naga, Kuki and Pangal should remain united to save Manipur and urged all communities to stand together.  As part of the event people offered floral tribute at the Integrity Pillar near the polo-ground in the morning.

Imphal, 03 August 2017 ( Evening News ) : A team of Narcotic Cell Imphal West seized 3 and half Kg of Opium worth rupees 3 lakhs in the international market from a person at Inter State Bus Terminus Complex around 10:30 am today. Acting on a tip off, a team of police under the supervision of Additional SP Law and Order, Imphal West, inspector and sub inspectors of Narcotic cell kept a strict vigil at ISBT. The man carrying the opium was arrested in the ISBT complex. The arrested person is identified as Paolanmang Khongsai,35, son of Paosea Khongsai from Phainom Village. He told police that he prepared the opium in his village and brought in Imphal to deliver to some persons. A case has been registered against him.

Imphal, 01 August 2017 ( Evening News ) : A student of Sainik School Pangei who went out to play football with his friends was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Family members and local residents stormed the school, today. The deceased student is identified as Wangkhem Imocha, 14 years, son of  Khogen from Nongren Awang Leikai  under Lamlai Police station. According to the family, the incident occurred yesterday evening around 7. The football team of the school along with 7 teachers went for a friendly match with a local club in Pukhao Khabam. Around 8 pm, the family  was informed that Imocha was admitted at JNIMS. When family members and some residents of the locality reached the hospital, Imocha was already dead. They were told that after the match, the boys went to take bath in a pond near the football ground. During dinner time, the students noticed that Imocha was missing  and they went looking for him. They found Imocha's body floating in the pond. The body has been kept at JNIMS Morgue for post mortem and a case has been registered at Sagolmang Police Station. The Principal of the school was forced to meet the people after they tried to storm the school.

Imphal, 01 August 2017 ( Evening News ) : In a case of suspected custodial death a woman found hanging in Andro police station. The body has been kept at JNIMS for post mortem examinations after forensic experts examined the crime scene. The deceased has been identified as 42 year old Mutum Ongbi Indira, wife of M. Ibohanbi, 40 from Andro khuman Leikai. She is survived by her husband and 4 children. Sources said Indira had gone out with Sarubam Sunibala wife of S. Lokhin from the same locality on the 25th of last month and Sunibala went missing. Indira was taken to Andro police station yesterday around 8:30 AM for questioning in connection with the case. She told police that Sunimala had eloped with Gopal Sharma from Kwakeithel Takhel Leikai. Indira was kept at police custody for further questioning. This morning Indira went to the wash room around 4:30 and a woman constable waited outside the washroom. The woman constable got suspicious when Indira did not come out after more than 5 minutes and informed the night officer. When they broke the door, Indira was found hanging inside the toilet. There were injury marks on her body. Irate people stormed  Andro police station after they learnt about her death. A District Magistrate and Forensic experts examined the crime scene. the body has been kept at JNIMS morgue for post mortem examinations.

Imphal, 31 July 2017 ( Evening News ) : Deputy Chief Minister kept in the house that 5 person died, 81 persons are hospitalised and 24 others are now in a critical state after consuming spurious liquor at Oinam Sawombung. Chief Minister appealed 60 MLAs at the house to unanimously take up a measure to ban the production and sell of liquor in Manipur. As a calling attention motion, opposition MLA K Meghachandra drew the attention of the house regarding the death and hospitalisation of many persons at Oinam Sawombung after the consumption of liquor. He said in spite of the presence of Manipur liquor Prohibition Act 1991, the production and sell of liquor cannot be checked. He also urged  to take up action against excise department and police personnel who cannot keep the sell of liquor in check. Replying to MLA Meghachandra, Chief Minister said the inability to keep the production and sell of liquor in check in the the state is not because of just 4 month old Government, it has been going on for many years, however, the government is keeping a close eyes into the matter and steps have been taken up. Chief Minister appealed the house members to come to a decision together whether to ban the production of liquor including change of Manipur liquor Prohibition Act 1991 which allows costumery production of liquor  or to let the costumery production continue by keeping a strict check at the gates of the villages which produce liquor. On the other hand, he also appealed the members to decide together to frame a policy to legalise the liquor and produce it with proper test and procedure

Imphal, 23 July 2017 ( Evening News ) : In a shocking incident a 15-year old girl was allegedly shot point blank by a 21-year-old man early this morning in Moreh. She has been identified as Nengneingah Khongsai daughter of Lethang Khongsai, presently staying at her uncle’s place at Gilgan village. The deceased girl was a student of class 9 at Mount Moreh Public School. The accused is identified as Sasat Haokip, 21 years son of Thanglet Haokip from Chavangphai village in Moreh. The incident occurred this morning around 5 at Gilgan Khul, Moreh Gate Number 1. Family members rushed towards the room on hearing the gun shots and found Nengneingah lying on the sofa. They saw a man running away from the house. Family members shouted for help and the neighbours rushed out of their homes. The people informed the police who had come to pick up the girl's body that Sasat was hiding in one of the houses in the neighbourhood. OC of Moreh police station, H. Chaoba and J. Baite arrested Sasat from the house where he was hiding. Police also recovered a country made 9 mm pistol with 3 live rounds from the spot. Nengneingah  was shot in the forehead. Family members suspected one sided love angle behind the murder. Tension erupted when the people stormed the Moreh police station when the police was taking the accused to Imphal. of the locality tried to stop the police when they were trying to take Sasat to Imphal. Police sources said Sasat is a cadre of the banned militant outfit, Kuki National Army, KNA. Shops in Moreh downed the shutters against the killing.
