Imphal, 29 December 2016 ( Evening News ) : Chief minister Okram Ibobi today inaugurated SDO/BDO Khoupum complex in Longmai district today. Speaking at the inauguration Okram Ibobi said the govt will establish a tourist destination in Khoupum area which is a beautiful place. The inauguration was also attended by deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, revenue minister I. Hemochandra and people of the district. The event was highlighted by traditional songs and dances.

Imphal, 28 December 2016 ( Evening News ) : The media fraternity of Manipur suspended their daily work yesterday and staged a sit in at Keishampat from 10 AM to 4 PM. They were protesting against the planting of a hand grenade at the office cum residence of Shibadutta Luwang, an editor of a local daily “Pandam” in Wahengbam Leikai by unknown miscreants. Imphal, 28 December 2016 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi has stated that  it is because of the congress party that India is being recognised worldwide. He made this statement on the occasion of the 131st foundation day of Indian National Congress at the Annexe Hall of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee on BT Road. He further stated that congress is not a power hungry party. People are aware of the work party has done for the nation before and after the independence. Ibobi said, a change in Manipur was also brought by the congress and not other parties who are hungry for power. Speaking on the occasion, deputy chief minister, Gaikhangam asserted that the congress is a people's party and that the BJP Govt in the centre has weakened. The event is being organised by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee. Ministers, MLAs, office bearers, leaders of district Block Congress Committee, members and workers of congress attended the event. Veteran Politician, Rishang Keishing was honoured with gifts at the event. District and Block Congress Committee members were also honoured at the event. A two minutes silence was observed in respect of the deceased members of the party

KCP-MC gifts to newspaper a grenade

Imphal, 27 December 2016 : A hand grenade was planted at the office cum residence of Shibadutta Luwang, an editor of a local daily “Pandam” in Wahengbam Leikai last evening by the militant outfit KCP-MC as a gift for the new year. The explosive was defused by bomb disposal squad of Manipur Police. President of Editors Guild, A. Mobi vehemently condemned the act and appealed to not repeat these acts in the future.In protest against the act, the media fraternity has decided to suspend daily work today and will stage a sit in at Keishampat from 10 AM to 4 PM. Imphal, 27 December 2016 : Spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh, N Biren reiterated that it is the responsibility of the state govt to end the economic blockade. He asked the Govt to submit a written statement to the centre if they are unable to resolve the problem. Addressing media at the party's office in Nityaipat Chuthek, Biren alleged that the congress is unable to work towards reducing the pain of the public and that they are not willing to work for the people. A team of BJP Manipur pradesh, led by its president met with the union home minister Rajnath Singh and detailed the hardships faced by the people of the state to him. The union minister held a meeting of the home ministry and sent Minister of State (Home) Kiren Rijiju to Imphal to check the ground realities. Biren reminded that additional security forces has been sent. Biren also sought clarifications from the congress govt in Manipur, if they have sent any written request to the central Govt asking them to not include Manipur in the ceasefire agreement. He also questioned if the state govt has notified the centre on how many cadres and illegal camps of NSCN-IM exist in the state. Also if the the govt has provided any report of the involvement of NSCN-IM in the recent twin ambush and if any actions have been taken up by the Home Department. Biren also asked if it is true that few police personnel are not allowed to use their weapons. He further questioned if the state govt has asked CBI and NIA to investigate the Ukhrul attack and who authorised the public meeting at Kangpokpi for the formation of South Nagalim. He also wanted to know what counter preparations did the govt have in place, knowing the fact that there would be retaliations once the new districts were announced and from which budget were the districts created. Biren demanded clarifications from the Govt as to what the emergency is to recruit for various departments, even conducting interviews at late nights during curfew.

On the other hand, clarifying on the accusations made by MLA Khumukcham Joykisan, General Secretary of BJP Manipur Pradesh,  Th.Bishwajit said BJP is not an individual's party. He questioned Joykhishan if he has met with any central leaders regarding the issues facing the public today.
