Imphal, 09 September 2016 : Former convener of JCILPS Khomdram Ratan has been released on bail by Sessions Judge, Imphal West, Maibam Manojkumar. He was released from JNIMS Security ward yesterday around 4:30 pm . After his release, people accompanied him on his way to the office of the S.P Imphal East, Porompat. Many women welcomed Ratan with garlands when he walked free from the police station after completing the paper works. It may be mentioned that Ratan has been admitted at JNIMS security ward since last week as his health deteriorated.

Later Ratan was accorded a warm welcome at the JCILPS office at Sega Road. Members of Students wing and women's wing garlanded him. JCILPS convenor BK Moirangcha expressed happiness at his release and said the JCILPS will consult Ratan for the next course of action. Khomdram Ratan said he is proud that he suffered for the people when he declared wanted and he was sent to jail wanted. He said he is happy that he will work with the people for a cause.

Earlier Khomdram Ratan was granted bail by Sessions Judge Imphal West Maibam Manojkumar on his execution of PR bond of Rs 1 lakh with two sureties of the like amount. Speaking to media, Counsel of Khomdram Ratan, Senior Advocate Khaidem Mani said no evidence has been found against Ratan for creating or causing unrest in the state. He said as per an order of the Supreme Court no one can be proclaimed guilty unless he is involved in any crime even if he is a member of banned outfit. Khaidem Mani added that the Court considered to give bail to Khomdram Ratan as his health condition deteriorated. Khomdram Ratan cannot leave the state without the permission of the Court.
