Imphal, 16 May 2016 ( Evening News) : State Revenue Department today evicted shops and private houses built on the encroached land on both sides of National Highway 37 near Government Polytechnic Training Centre at around 9.30 this morning. Officials of the department along with police dismantled the illegal structures using JCB. However, shopkeepers opposed and resisted the step. A shopkeeper S. Amudom said an order was issued on May 14 stating the people to remove the structure on their own. He said shopkeepers have been trying to remove the structure following the order. But the officials without any prior information came and forcibly dismantled all the shops and house along the stretch beyond usable.
