Imphal, 16 May 2016 ( Evening News) : Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) celebrated their 14th Foundation Day at GM hall today. The final round of the 'Khangminashi Eramdam' Quiz was also held as a part of the event and many cultural programmes were also held. Speaking at the occasion, HERICOUN secretary general Heisnam Oken expressed his concern over today’s prevailing situation where people are not able to exercise their Rights to live properly due to the rise of unrest and chaos in the society. He further said people today seem to have forgotten their roots and the sense of brotherhood amongst each other and appealed everyone to try and mend the same. Further Schedule Tribe Demand Committee Secretary Retd. Colonel Laishram Lokendro said that the people who are against the Meiteis demand to include in the Schedule Tribe List has got their secret agenda. RK Rajendra said that it would not be right to chase the demand over the context of a few quotas and that everyone should sit together and discuss on the same. Speaking at the occasion Aimol Tribe Union Manipur President, RT Akhel Aimol who was also the Chief Guest of the event said that it’s unfortunate that few people are turning themselves against the people’s movement for a cause and it shows the lack of unity amongst the citizens of the state. He concluded instead of arguing with each other, we all should sit together and talk it out.

MANIPURI LITERATURE SYMPOSIUM

Imphal, 16 May 2016 ( Evening News) : A one day symposium on the Concepts of Love and Lust in Manipuri Literature was held today at Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound. The symposium was organised by The Cultural Forum of Manipur in connection with its 58th Foundation Day to be held tomorrow. Keishamthong MLA Laisom Ibomcha, Thanga MLA T Mangibabu among others attended the inaugural session of the symposium. 6 resource persons deliberated on the theme. They opined that love and lust are eternal. Words used in Lai Haraoba ceremony are full of love and affection. ‘Khamba Thoibi’ a Manipuri epic may even existed if love and lust were not there.

Imphal, 16 May 2016 ( Evening News) : ‘Manipur Handlloom Mark’ was released today at Manipur Press Club today. The releasing function was jointly organised by handlooms promotion council, Manipur and Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers & Handicrafts Artisans C.S LTD Imphal. As a part of the function, Manipur Handloom Mark was also distributed to the weavers of the state. The releasing function was attended by members of weavers service centre, ministry of textiles and manipur apex handloom weavers. Addressing the gathering Assistant director (design) Weavers service centre, ministry of Textiles C. Rajasekaran stated that products of manipur handloom is well known through out the country. Releasing of manipur handloom mark will surely create separate identity of the products of manipur handloom.

Imphal, 16 May 2016 : Prizes of the Impact Tv Cheiraoba Lucky Draw and Yaoshang Photo Competition were presented at a function held at Hotel Imphal. The  competition and the lucky draw were held for the customers of Impact TV. Each winner of Cheiraoba Lucky Draw was presented with LG  LED TV,. Gift hampers were presented to winners of the photo competition. Members of the Board and staff of the Impact TV attended the event.

Imphal, 16 May 2016 ; Joint Director of Manipur State Aids Control Society, Abhiram Mongjam has stated that the 3rd Line ART which has been already introduced in several other countries is likely to be introduced in India from this year.  Speaking at the 33rd International AIDS Candle Light Memorial day organised by MNP +  at Manipur dramatic hall, Yaiskul Police Lane Abhiram said in Manipur people living with HIV / AIDS under CD4 350 are getting ART and measures are taken to provide ART to affected people under CD4 500 under the National AIDS Control Programme. He said the facility will made be available at  RIMS or JNIMS after the trained manpower is available. The event was held on the theme Engage, Educate and Empower.
