Imphal, 21 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Tension erupted in Langthabal constituency last night after the escorts and workers of BJP candidate Okram Joy allegedly frisked and stopped the supporters of MLA Karam Shyam from going to his house. The incident happened in Chajing Awang Leikai, Yumnam mamang around 9pm. Sources said security personnel of MLA Shyam fired several rounds in the blank to control the situation. Imphal, 16 February 2017 ( Evening News ) : Scrutiny of the nominations for the first phase of the 11th Manipur Legislative assembly elections is going on in various districts. Candidates were seen coming to the offices of the returning officers with their supporters. In Imphal east scrutiny began at 10am and candidates of 22 constituencies were present during the scrutiny. Imphal, 26 January 2017 : The Election Commission has asked political parties and leaders not to use the pictures of President, Vice President and State Governors in their election posters. In a letter to the leaders of political parties, the poll body has asked them to advise their candidates and leaders to desist from such acts in their election campaigns.
