POSHAN PAKHWADA 2023 LAUNCHED IN MANIPUR
Manipur joins nation in celebrating 5th Poshan Pakhwada 2023
Manipur joined the nationwide celebration of the fifth Poshan Pakhwada 2023 under Poshan Abhiyan today with various activities. The celebration of Poshan Pakhwada under the Ministry of Women and Child Development will continue till April 3. Every year, Poshan Pakhwada is celebrated in the month of March for 15 days. Similarly, the month of September is celebrated as Rashtriya Poshan Maah, across the country.
Director of Social Welfare Department, Ng. Uttam launched Poshan Pakhwada 2023 in the complex of the department at North AOC. Speaking on the sidelines, Director Ng. Uttam said the mission aimed to fight malnutrition among children in India. The theme of this year’s Poshan Pakhwada 2023 is “Nutrition for All: Together Towards a Healthy India”. With the declaration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets, Ng. Uttam stressed the nutritional benefits of consuming climate-resilient millet crops, locally known as chanal. He said millets are rich in iron, zinc, magnesium and other minerals and that consumption of millets can help in fighting anaemia among young girls and women.
Anganwadi workers, staff and officials of the department took part in a short-distance rally held on the occasion.
TWO MORE STOLEN BOLERO VEHICLES RECOVERED
Bishnupur Police team has recovered two more Bolero vehicles stolen from different locations in the Imphal area. The team recovered the vehicles upon disclosure by two accused persons earlier arrested in connection with a vehicle theft case (FIR no 8(3)2023 BPR PS u/s 379/34 IPC).
The accused persons are 37-Year-Old T Lunkhomang Haokip, son of T Thangzangam Haokip of New Boljang, Chrachandpur and 35 year-old K Seithanglein, son of K. Seilenthang of D. Leikot village, Chrachandpur, currently residing at Khamenlok village in senapati. They had been formally arrested in connection with another FIR case at Lamshang Police Station.
The police team was led by OC Bishnupur Police Station, Inspector K. Dineshkumar, under the supervision of Additional SP Operations Roni Mayengbam and Additional SP (Law and Order) Satyaam Takellambam and the overall guidance of Bishnupur SP N Herojit Meetei.
A total of three Bolero vehicles have been recovered in connection with the case so far.
YUVA SANGAM: CM FLAGS OFF NIT MANIPUR TEAM VISITING MP
Manipur CM N. Biren flags off a team of NIT Manipur to Madhya Pradesh as a part of Yuva Sangam under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat
Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren flagged off a team from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur visiting Madhya Pradesh as a part of Yuva Sangam under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, from the Western Gate of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat today. The team comprises 30 students, including 12 girls and 5 officials of NIT. They will visit tourist places of Madhya Pradesh, acquire knowledge of the development and technological advancement of the state. The visit from March 20 to 26 is expected to facilitate cultural exchange among the youths of Manipur and Madhya Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, N. Biren said Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat" to connect youths across the country and make them closer to one another under the "One India" mission. He encouraged the team to convey a positive message about Manipur to the people of Madhya Pradesh they interact with. N. Biren also advised the team to be well disciplined during their visit so as to create a good image, adding that each small thing is important in life. Maintaining that the state had gone through developmental changes in various fields, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the NIT team would have many things to talk about the state.
Taking part in the event, Education Minister Th. Basantakumar advised the team to give a positive presentation on the developments achieved in the state. He reminded them that they are not only representing the NIT, but also Manipur and other North East states. He urged the team to motivate the people of Madhya Pradesh to visit Manipur, by highlighting various tourist spots developed in the state. Director of NIT Manipur Professor Gautam Sutradhar, Registrar Professor Khumukcham Tomba and other officials of NIT attended the flag off programme.
MLA RANJIT INSPECTS WATER SUPPLY SCHEMES UNDER JJM
Sugnu MLA K. Ranjit inspected the construction of various water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Sugnu Assembly Constituency today in the wake of acute water scarcity facing the state.
The local MLA took stock of the ongoing construction of water supply schemes at Kakching Khunou, Wangoo, Chairel, Pangaltabi, Tangjeng, Korshantabi, Sugnu and Serou. He also checked the condition of water pipelines in these schemes. He was accompanied by the Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department, Suren, and officials of the company assigned for construction of these water supply schemes.
MLA K. Ranjit pointed out that the Wangoo Tampha Lairembi Water Supply Scheme constructed under the Jal Jivan Mission is unable to supply water to the people of Sandangkhong, Kashartabi and Pungjaomakhong. He instructed the PHED Executive Engineer to complete fixing water pipelines at Pungjaomakhong and also to check the pipelines laid at Sandangkhong and Kashartabi. The EE assured that he would do the needful.
MLA Ranjit also assured the locals that repair of the 18 kilometre stretch of the road connecting Ithai with Sugnu Thongkhong will be completed soon and that a community hall will be constructed at Sandangkhong utilizing the MLA local area Development Fund for the financial year 2023-24.
