Manipur COVID-19 Update 13 JUNE 2021

Manipur reported 530 new COVID-19 CASES and 15 Deaths in the last 24 hours. State's COVID-19 tally reached 59,852 out of which 8,499 are active cases and death toll climbed to 974. On the positive note, 726 COVID-19 Cured cases were reported in the last 24 hours rising the state's recovered cases to 50,379. Manipur's recovery rate stands at 84.17%.
 
As per Manipur Directorate of Health Services and COVID-19 Common Control room press release on June 13 evening,  newly infected persons are 528 from the general population and two are personnel of Central Armed Police Force. Infected persons from the general population are 170 from Imphal West, 79 from Imphal East, 60 from Bishnupur, 56 from Thoubal, 53 from Churachandpur, 41 from Chandel, 36 from Kakching, 19 from Jiribam, 7 from Ukhrul, 6 from Tamenglong and 1 from Noney district.
 
While, the COVID-19 victims are 7 from Imphal West, 2 each from Imphal East and  Bishnupur and one each from Kakching, Thoubal, Ukhrul and Jiribam District.

Head of world's biggest family, Pu Zionnghaka, also known as Zion Chana of Mizoram reportedly passed away on Sunday afternoon.  He breathed his last at Trinity Hospital in Aizawl.

Zion Chana was husband to 39 wives. He fathered 94 children and was grandfather to many grandchildren. Born on 21 July 1945, 76 year old, Pu Zionnghaka was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. He was the leader of Chana páwl, a Christian sect formed in June 1942.

The family lives in a 100-room, four storey house in Baktwang Tlangnuam village of Mizoram’s Serchhip district.

Commedian Thokchom Surmangol, popularly known as "Englishman Saba" for his roles in Nokphade Comic Series and a number of Manipuri Films succumbed to COVID-19 at JNIMS on June 13 morning. He was 46.

 

The late Commedian from Thoubal Kshetri Leikai in Thoubal District was a special guest on Impact News Saturday Night Show which was aired on March 9, 2019. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son.

Film fraternity,  Nokphade team, fans and his near and dear ones have condoled his untimely demise.
