High-level multi-disciplinary public health central team reached Manipur today to monitor the surging cases of COVID-19 in the State. The two-member team is led by Dr. L Swasticharan, Add. DDG & Director EMR. Team members arrived in separate flights at Bir Tikendrajit International Airpor today. One arrived in the morning at around 11 and the other at around 1.45 this afternoon. As soon as they reached, they attended a meeting chaired by Principal Secretary (Health) V. Vumlunmang at the Old Secretariat complex. 
The team is expected to gather a first-hand understanding of the challenges and issues being faced in curbing COVID-19 cases in Manipur and strengthen the state's ongoing activities by removing bottlenecks. They will also monitor the overall implementation of COVID-19 management, especially in testing, surveillance and containment operations; Covid appropriate behaviour and its enforcement; availability of hospital beds, sufficient logistics including ambulances, ventilators, medical oxygen and COVID-19 vaccination progress. They will suggest remedial actions after monitoring situation for the state.
It maybe mentioned that apart from Manipur, Centre has also delegated two-member team each to five other states reporting surge in COVID-19 cases. The states are Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Union Health Ministry has stated that these teams will assist in COVID-19 control and containment measures in these states.

Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit is giving preference to women candidates for the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections 2022. The party gave a warm reception to new entrant, President of Awang Khunou Women Child and Development Society Maharabam Anita from Awang Sekmai Khunou Leikai at the party office in Babupara, Imphal today.

Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit President M.Tombi said that the party will give more preference to woman candidates.He stressed on the need to increase women's participation in politics as it will ease in devising strategies to deal with women related issues. M. Tombi mentioned that women's performance in Manipur's political arena is still very low in all the 60 Assembly Constituencies of Manipur.

It maybe mentioned that, ruling party of the State, Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh has recently appointed its first Woman President, Adhikarimayum Sharda. She is spearheading to fulfill the Party's Late President S. Tikendra's vision of securing at least 40 BJP MLA seats in the upcoming 2022 elections.
